  1. Okay, so they aren't really ribs. "Country ribs" (bork butt with some
bones). Marinated in the following pureed concoction:

1 can mandarin oranges (with juice)
    1/2 c. teriyaki sauce
    couple of splashes of oil
    1/4 c. crystallized ginger
    1 medium onion, quartered
    2 cloves garlic
    1/2 tsp. pepper

Puree the ingredients and marinate the meat at least one hour or overnight.
Fire up the grill and I think you can figure out the rest 🙂

Yum, thanks for the recipe. I love BBQ season!

Bork... Hmm, that must have been what I had once at a restaurant that
was sold as a "boneless rib" sandwich. I believe it was the meat
equivalent of particle board, i.e., fabricated from pieces (meat?) in
    a mystery matrix.

Huh. Up here, there is something called "country style ribs" which
are ribs. Different from spare ribs, but still ribs.

Of course, that doesn't explain why they are called "country." ;>

When is it *not* BBQ season? In *my* world, BBQ season is May through
August plus any month with an "r" in it.

    BOB

Or any day that ends with a "y"!
Magnolia Blossoms and seasonal malaria are mere incidentals.

True, but the recipes really come out in the warmer seasons.

Before I started reading rec.food.cooking we used to boil the ribs to cook
them the whole way through, THEN throw them on the grill and paint them with
a bottle of BBQ sauce. The horror!

And you weren't beaten for this offense?
