  1. Crocodiles usually go hunting in the shelter of the evening twilight.
While they are small, they live mainly on worms, beetles and crabs.
Later they add fish, waterbirds and medium sized mammals to the list of
    their prey.

Cathy - shame on you, you can't start a new thread when you're
supposed to be helping out with the world record, ya know.
Medium-sized mammals sound far to much like humans to me for comfort.

Well if go splashing through an estuary at dusk to cool down after a hard
day on the road around parts of the Australian Northern Territory you can
test this out. To make it a fair test you should not look like a beetle,
flap like a bird or smell like a worm.

Well, I may have adopted the name Alleygator for one reason or
another, but the real critters are something I seriously don't want to
run into. You can keep 'em. And I promise you, I'm not anywhere near
that bad. <G> I do have a black belt but that was only beause a
friend dared me to about 25 years ago, and I'm not all that great at
it - a little old grandma could probably whip my butt.

I guess it was actually more like 30-some years. Everyone seems to
stand in awe when someone says they have a belt, and I guess that's
justified with some people, like my friend, who is just amazing at it.
To me, a black belt is like being 16 and getting a driver's license.
It says you know some basics, and now it's time to learn some real
stuff, if you're up to it. I wasn't, because I suck at it. And there
comes a time when getting the living snot whipped out of you ceases to
be a whole lot of fun <G>

Actually, my son did the same thing and got his belt - he was WAY
better at it than me, but when his school closed down, he sort of
dropped it. Disappointed. But he's 6 feet 7 inches tall, so the
reach advantage helped him out quite a bit. He must be adopted, or
belong to the mailman - I'm a little shrimp, 5 feet 10 inches.

    Never smile at a crocodile
Never tip your hat or stop to talk a while
    Don't be taken in
    By his welcome grin
He's imagining how well you'll fit within his skin

Good enough fer me. Hey! Tell Crash I'm thinkin' about him - I just
went through the "crazed ferret" routine on some new meds before I
threw them down the toilet. Lord, I hope I didn't post while that was
going on. I had some stuff so bad a few years ago that I was sitting
on the bed, reading an imaginary book (turning pages, no less) and
pretending to brush my teeth, until my wife called the doc (who was
actually a family friend) and said "You can do something about this,
or YOU can come live with him". She said the last straw was when I
stood up, shook my finger in the air and said "14,000 dollars - you
can keep your filthy money". Good grief, where in the world does that
stuff come from? My mom is on the same med, but for a different
reason these days - she takes 10 mg a day. He started me off on 120mg
the very first day, which is way too close to lethal dose for comfort.
OTOH, maybe he'd have done the world a favor <G>.

I've had gator tail a few times - and LOVED it. Gator reminds me of a cross
between chicken and frog legs and is slightly sweet. It also reminds me of
calimari in the sense that if you over cook it - it's chewy. I really like
its flavor. I'd like to try croc some time. It would be especially neat to
try it and compare it to gator, at the same time.

NOT!!!! Gator, you are adored and loved here. Only someone with brain
waves that closely match those of a crazed ferret could think like that....
