Here's the scoop... I have some 7 year old Sidi shoes that I still wear (only because I have no
money for new ones). The Look red cleat on the left shoe gets loose often and of course I have to
tighten them. The screws seem to come loose and the cleat swivels enough to make my foot hurt at the
end or near the end of every ride. The newish cleat upon removal still has the teats (for lack of a
better word) all around the edge as it's suposed to. The shoe however has pits where the cleat teats
are supposed to rest that have been widened by the constant swivel action and are way out of what
spec should be.
I have tried to fix the cleat just prior to this post by (wait and hear me out) applying a thin
layer of a strong automobile epoxy to the bottom of the shoe where the teats rest. I only applied a
very thin layer and only where the teats rest. Of course this was done with the cleat off of the
shoe and no epoxy was applied to the screw holes.
I guess my question is... Am I just going to have to break down and buy another pair shoes? Has
anyone ever tried fixing a shoe like this? And even though the cleats look good still and have the
toe ridge ...Are the cleats bad?
