What's your logic in building one from the frame up? It'll usually cost ya more unless you are looking for a rather unique configuration or you have a pile of parts laying around.

I want a carbon fiber frame with campagnolo components. The frame doesn't have to be brand new, there are quite a few nice ones on ebay for about half the price of retail. Also I am getting campagnolo components, most the bikes I've seen in my price range come with Shimano 105 or higher. I have the durace on my current hybrid, and I don't really think they are that great.
how do these frames compare? are there any other ones which might be better in a similiar price range?

Well, first thing to do is homework on sizing and geometry,rather than worrying about which CF frame is 'best'.Otherwise you can be throwng money down a rathole. DA on a hybrid?? Is this a TROLL ?

Pics of what? Look it doesn't matter what group your hybrid has, or whether you even ride a bike. Your question is BS. Better how? For who? In what way? Either you are a Troll, or you didn't take any time to even figure out what is important TO YOU regarding your new potential frame. Spend some time researching what is available, thinking about what characteristics you are looking for, what you will use the bike for, and then come back and post. Unless you really want anonymous jerks to think for you... then I choose the Look. Why? Who cares why, you don't seem to.

Maybe with my leveraged purchasing power I get super steep discounts or something (I'm kidding), but I don't agree with this. Maybe it is true for low-level bikes, but IMO not to build something mid to high-end. At least not if you bargain bin around for a lot of the stuff.

Well like I said I am a novice, that's why I came here to ask ... I don't know anything bout it besides that I like carbon fvber frames and I want Campagnolo componenets.

But if you guys dont know how to ride with a saddle and get the seat posts out of your asses, than I'll join a different forum.

Do you have any idea how much faster you can ride without the weight of a saddle? Besides I got the idea from the Southpark episode with the new gyrocycle... :p

I was being blunt because when I read someone asking which is better while giving no indication as to what that means to them it is too nebulous to answer in any valuable way. If you want to get a bunch of opinions from random people with random ways in which they have formed their opinions go for it. But I think the feedback will reflect the thought you put into the question. Define what "better" means to you. How would you answer: "which is better Audi A4 or BMW 3-series"?... All you will get is a bunch of opinions that may or may not have any correlation with the value system to which you ascribe. Understand?

The Giant is a Monococque (one piece) front triangle and the Look frame uses lugs and tubes. Not sure of the ride characteristics of the two since I haven't ridden them. If I had to choose between the two without testing them, I would go with the Look. This is only because I have a comfort level with Look since they have been making carbon frames as long as anyone, and the KG361 was used by several pro teams a few years back. I can't speak for Giant (T Mobile uses them so I'm sure it's a fine bike too), but I know Look really only makes high-end bikes. Get a chance to ride them before you buy.

For one, shimano isn't [censored], especially ultegra. There is nothing superior to Campy (actually at the same price point you can often get what's generally considered a "higher level" groupset by buying Shimano) --> tune it up and it shifts equally well. Shimano and Campy are different, there's no way to say one is better... so let's not go down into that ratt hole. You're question was a frame question.

Agree totally with the other posters here. One is a high-end asian builder, is super high volume selling mostly lower end aluminum stuff. The other is a French company that only sells high-end racing composite frames. Regarding quality -- is one better? As mentioned pro's use both so I doubt there's much of a difference. And also as mentioned, it's not even worth comparing the two side-by-side until you've ridden both and know they both fit you perfectly and the geometry/ride characteristics are what you're after.

I guess I'm going with used Look frame which I got on ebay (2003/KG 361), the size seemsto be right, I reall ydont know [censored] about geometry, so it's trial and error for now I guess. I am about 5'10-5'11 and the frame is a 56cm which is the same as my sirrus, and the Giant OCR which I test rode.

That's an obvious one, my S4 trans blew, so I traded it for an M3 ... the BMW is a superior machine (not once did anything break, s4 was always goin to the stealership for some warranty work. 😉

FWIW, you can shift down multiple gears with Shimano also.. I do it everytime I ride.

56 "sounds" about right for your height, but there are MANY other factors to look at. Manufactures differ in their geometry, so top tube length, among others can be different enough that you could have a fit problem. Probably nothing you can't work around with carefull choice of stem length however.

I suspect you know, but you're about to be on a bike that doesn't have nearly the upright riding position you're used to, that can bring some things to the surface with regards to fit and comfort.

I have no experience with either frame, but I've never read anything bad about Look.

OK, but you got my point right? I have to agree with you though I bought an E30 M3 with 100,000 miles on it when I was right out of college, drove it until it had 210,000, then sold it for 2,500 less than I paid for it, and never had any significant problems(and this is the first generation 500 built per year boy-racer one!). In cost per mile it was cheaper to own than my Golf TDI!

Oh and you won't go wrong with Campy either. Just don't post and ask which one is better 😄
