I'll explain a little more, since she can't. Crash tripped a month or so
back and his hip was injured. Well, to make a long story short, subsequent
visits to the doctor proved nothing until extreme pain forced Crash and
Carol to go to the emergency room last night. The bone in his hip is dying.

He's in severe pain and Carol's office has to be converted to a "hospital"
room so he's within easy reach of necessities. A hip replacement has been
suggested, but that's a last resort.

Anyone can email her; she's set up her computer on the dining room table.
So far, the July cook-in is still on, so..........

Hope everyone else is in good health and good spirits. Spring is here!

Hey Gator! Kili sent me a copy of your note. Guess I'd better keep
Googling this thread. It's so good to know that people care.

Crash says some really off the wall things that have nothing to do with
anything. But he's never said one unkind word. At least at this
point. I've dealt with an ex-husband who got pretty deranged after
heart bypass surgery and a stroke. He'd angrily accuse me of saying
things I'd never said, etc. So I do understand that the brain develops
a mind of its own when subjected to certain drugs, etc.

The biggest problem so far happened the day after he put on his first
patch. While smoking a cigarette, he set fire to his pants, and didn't
notice until they'd been burning for awhile. Thankfully, they are
loose, and he didn't get burned. But it's scary. I try to sit with
him when he's both loopy and smoking now.

As far as pacing myself, I'm trying to do that. I take naps whenever I
can get them in. When he's up, or I can't sleep, I frolic in the
American Idol newsgroup (a lot fewer posts than RFC). I'm having a
great time telling people that they're idiots. <EG>

The thing is, Alley, you just never know who, what, or when he will attack.
I've never seen anyone so vicious or someone so filled with filth. I also
have never understood what so many here on rfc think he's "funny". AFAIC, he
should be place in an institution for the criminally insane in solitary
confinement, but I know this won't happen. I killfiled him years ago. It's
amazing how quickly life here becomes delightfully pleasant.

Then you haven't been reading rfc very long. It's entirely in
