It was a fantastic day at Wissahickon today. The rain held off until we
got back to the car, but an occassional mist kept things nice and cool.
Getting back on the bike after 10 days in the O.C. without it was
sure nice. Three of us went out and hit just about the entire park.
It's great to ride on a weekday afternoon. There was no one on the
trails. We picked up three remaining Poker Run signs that were at the
far end of the pipeline trail where it turns into a field. The Poker
Run which our club organized, raised over $6200. It was an amazing
turnout for a first time event and people are already taking about next
year. We also met one of the Park Directors working on a bridge and
rerouting the stream to where it was supposed to go. It was earth day
today and he had several schools helping him out. We talked about the
PR for a while and then finished up a total of 16 miles. A couple of
slips and slides, but everyone survived with a big smile on their face.
We topped it off with a great salad at Whole Foods.

Not sure if you heard or not, but this year will be the last year for
the Jim Thorpe Mountain Bike Weekend. Carbon County has decided not to
renew a permit to allow the festival to be held. -

broke and now in addition to closing off some of the best trails, there
choking off the last bit of revenue they can get. It's unfortunate, but JT will die a slow and painfull death.

Is there anything to the suggestion that somebody made to purchase a hunting
license, wear it on on one's back and claim "scouting for game" if stopped?Funny you should say that. The PAGLC changed the statutes two years ago
to allow ATV's on PA state gamelands for handicapped hunters. So, not
only are they allowing "mechanized" transportation, they'll be
destroying the singletrack at the same time.--
