My new paramo had been well tested in snow, cold and wind and passed
with flying colours, but it had never been tested in the rain until
saturday. A companion and I set out to do Beinn a' Chlachair, Geal Charn
and Creag Pitridh. When we parked at the usual laybye near Loch Laggan
it was raining, when we returned seven hours later it was still raining.
Sometimes the rain came gently, sometimes it was driven by gale force
winds. On the summit of Beinn a' Chlachair the rain became driven sleet
and snow. Navigation was very exciting! When we sorted ourself out at
the car I was bone dry under my jacket. Not even any condensation.
Dennis who was in traditional fleecy and goretex was soaked to the skin.
Now a Paramo convert and planning to buy the trousers next.
