  1. I've now followed this low carb vegetatrian diet for a bit more than two
weeks, and I'm feeing great. I don't have a scale (because I'd just obsess
about it if I did), but my clothes fit better - almost as well as before
getting this job as a receptionist.

My appetite is down, so I don't go about feeling hungry so often, and
    that's a definite plus.

I still miss some things, but have found some diet sodas I like, and have
one of those once or twice a week, as a treat. I need to have something,
which has status as a treat :0)

Besides, I've found some new favourites, and avocadoes with horse-radish
flavoured cream cheese in the middle has become a very welcome guest at my
    breakfast table. Yummy!

I've worried about my blood sugar for a while, but feared testing myself.
Yesterday I went and bought a kit for testing at home, and this morning I
tested. It was in the "normal" range, but the highest level in that range,
so I guess that being careful is a good idea, because any higher and I'll
be in the "Go talk to a doctor" level, which is not a place I want to be.
Maybe I'm over reacting - maybe I'm not, but I prefer being on the safe
side... (I took the test on an empty stomach, as instructed, in case you
    were wondering).

All in all, it seems to be the right thing I'm doing, though I'll probably
be in trouble when I'll be eating out somewhere... We'll see...

Just letting you know how I'm doing, since I've been helped so much in
    here.

    Kind regards,
    Nikitta.

    Yay!

    I can relate. I don't own a scale either, so I don't know how much I
weigh until I have my 3-6 month appointment with my endocrinologist.

Isn't it a shock when the usual is reversed? I was so used to clothes
getting tighter that it was positively disorienting when they began to
get looser! I'm now down two sizes from where I started.

I think treats are vital to good mental health. ;-)

I was diagnosed with a fasting BG of 130, but with eating low-moderate
carb (or, more accurately, low-spike, as Alan S. refers to it), I keep
my numbers within the normal range most of the time. Diagnosis is not
the end of the world, it's just a piece of information. If you treat
yourself as if you already know you have it, then you're ahead of the
game. If nothing else, cutting back on carbs is giving your beta cells
    a rest.

Maybe not. I've found that many restaurants that I've encountered on
this side of the Atlantic are willing to substitute more vegies for the
    starch. And there's always salads.

I'm glad you did. I was wondering how you were doing. Thanks!

Yeah, and I've also given myself some non-food treats, especially during
the first week because I believe that you should be very nice to yourself
when you're on a diet. Next month will be time for new clothes... I
wonder what size I am now...

Yeah. It's as good as it sounds! Eating when I'm hungry, instead of when
I think that it's okay, and eating until I'm satiated, with no guilt has
been a difficult thing to learn, but my boyfriend has been very helpful
and supportive with that. Otherwise he eats as usual - he's one of the
lucky [censored] who can eat as they want to, and still look good.

Well - we shop and eat different food, except eggs and milk, which we
both consume. Seeing him opening a can of coke, or eating a pizza was
*very* hard at first, but I've told him not to eat any different for my
    sake.

We're going to go to a friend's birthday party later today, but they're
used to me bringing my own food, and I've bought some semi-dry white wine
to drink, plus some diet sodas, so I can party too ;0) I'm marinating
tofu to bring, as I type this...

The only thing I won't be having anything like is cake. Well - I hope
they will accept me skipping without too much of an argument.

You're right - I'll cross that brigde when I come to it. No need to worry
    about it in advance.

    Kind regards,
    Nikitta.

And in better restaurants they will bend over backwards to
    accommodate
you. It's a very simple process. People are trying to eat healthier.
And restaurants are finding this out.

Rmember. You're paying them. Not the other way around.

You're right. I have nothing to worry about in that regards. It was just a
    bad mental image passing by...

    Kind regards,
    Nikitta.
