  1. Am wondering if we need to start a weekly ride, just for the fixies (Fixed Ride 1)?

    Any takers?

That was my idea! I'm assuming it will be a beach rd ride?

I'm still a headstem, headset, seatpost, and fork away from getting the world's longest fixie on the road. I did take the angle grinder to Etxy's cranks though - the sparks did fly......

I've been meaning to suggest this for a while but didn't think there
    would be much interest.

Count me in. But at the moment I'm limited to about 50kms tops.
Apparently my body can't handle more fixed kms in one go 🙂

I'd be hoping we can find somewhere better than Beach Rd, but it's
probably not a bad way to start.

oh, but will there be gearing restrictions?
oh the shame of not rocking up with enough inches 🙄

Flat is good. actually come to think of it i have done very little flat for extended periods on the 'fix'.
i can see the 15T gon back on the flip-flop (17-18T for my hilly commute currently).

And to extend the 'FR' a bit further, howabout this 'FR'iday ???

Im grinnin just finkin bout it 😄

  7. As with the BR can probably do any of the easter days. Not sure what its place in the week would be, maybe a weekday morning? Monday or friday?

    FR suggestion:

    Start: elsternwick train station
Down rusden street and around to the right (past daily planet)
    Cross Dandy road
Left at new street (longish bit down here to brighton beach)
Left at beach rd (old skool crossing gates across railway line) longish bit on beach road)
    Left at warrigal rd
left at como pde (befor railwayline)
    Left at balcome road
To Clock tower at black rock and right onto beach rd
Right back onto St kilda street (at the right from left bit)
    Right onto glenhuntly

    Coffee in Glenhuntly rd

When I rode to Doncaster a couple of weeks ago, I didn't need a light
by the end, but in the first 20 minutes, it was quite dodgy -- I think
I put my front backup light on, but since the rear light was on my
pannier rack that I removed to save 100 grams (heh), I was expecting
    to get pulled over.

Puled over for having no light or for riding the orange beast? 😉

what sorta speeds will you guys be doing? I'm usually comfortable about the mid 20's (km/h) running a low(ish) 44x18 gear (i like to brake with my legs).

not sure if i'm able to sustain a higher speed ride for long.

    cheers

Ok, rode the loop this morning, flowed fairly nicely at peak hours so should be even better on a public holiday. Clrifying the meeting point on Glenhuntly rd at the station entrance now at 730am.

Distance 35.5k for the loop described
    Ascent 145m nothing too stressful
Fixed I assume that the average will be 28/29kph

    In so far
