Exactly. If it wriggles, Mears scoffs it down. Him and Hugh Fearnly
Eatsitall seem to have very wide tastes when it comes to food.

Great idea for a new television series then.
Hugh Fearnely Eatsitall and Ray Mear's Extreme Self-Sufficiency.

Only problem would be that the TV company would end up being sued by
one set of relatives.

he gets stranded for real somewhere remote. ISTM that you'd last a
bit longer with more body fat to burn...

Yes - I had that thought as well. He seems to get plenty of exercise
so it's slightly surprising that he caries the extra weight. Maybe it
is a deliberate thing.

It's 200 quid and hasn't even got a properly shaped blade, just the
cheapest flat blade with a locally chamfered edge!

You can get a knife made from good carbon steel *and* properly tapered
in both dimesnsions from Opinel for around 1/20th of the cost. If you
really want the leaf shape of this knife there are several carbon
steel versions with the same leaf shape, but properly tapered in both
dimensions, widely available for 30-100 quid. And I'm sure Ray Mears
is used enough to knives not to use personally any knife with such
stupidly fashionable blade geometry. This knife is an amazing rip
off!

I'm very disappointed that he's lending his name to such wildly
profiteering rubbish.

thing of some type, and was very disappointed by the franchise operation
using his name.
