Sorry, just letting off steam. The imbeciles got my old lock back
over a month ago, and I'm yet to receive my new one. I know you lot
that've had locks think they're lovely, but I'm still tending towards
the incompetent crooks trying to make teh process as difficult as
    possible point of view, myself.

    regards, Ian SMith

Why suspect "incompetent crooks" when "incompetent" is all that is
required? Occam's Razor and all that...

Because of all teh obstacles they implemented to put people off teh
exchange program, even before they proved incapable of operating it.

My brothers lock came back within 10 days. I sent mine off when that
arrived, and am waiting for that to come back this week hopefully.

I got my replacement about six or seven weeks after sending my old lock
back. They said initially it could take 3 to 5 weeks, so after 5 weeks I
emailed them to say it still hadn't come, they wrote back after a couple
days to confirm they had got my old lock back and the replacement had not
been sent yet because the lock I needed was out of stock and on back order.
A few days after that it actually came. Not sure if the email made any
difference, but I actually appreciated the fact that I got a reasonably
quick, personal response from them, bearing in mind this is a very large
company replacing an enormous number of locks. They've certainly made a few
cockups such as sending out wrong address labels, and gone about the whole
exercise in a seemingly bizarre way, insisting on getting old locks returned
individually directly to them rather than going through dealers, but at the
same time I do give them credit for the fact that their system seems to
work, eventually, and you do see new locks for old, and they do respond,
personally, to questions if you ask.

They e-mailed me a month ago to say they would e-mail me a return
sticker to print out within the week. I e-mailed two days ago to ask
where it was and got a by return reply to say they were having problems
with the UPS software which was delaying them sending stickers out.
Don't know whether its a reason or an excuse but they did respond promptly.

My ups label got emailed out about 3 weeks later. My brother got his label,
confirmation and lock before despite me telling him of the replacement
scheme a week after I applied.

On another note, how would the London authorities get through my Kryptonite
New York Lock if they so wished. I'm guessing that it'd provide a bit of a
    challenge?

My final lock was returned today. About a three week turnaround so not bad
IMO. They also sent 'the full kit', so I now have an EZ mount. Still got
nowhere that it'll fit though (two water bottle cages, one for my lights
battery). The EZ mount is pretty hard to get the lock out of too. I think a
better solution for me would be to find a way of securing it to my rack. Any
    suggestions?

They exchanged with a new New York 3000 lock .. it's bloody heavy compared
to my last one - or maybe it's my imagination.

Aha, do already have a cargo net, but it has many hooks, however it's pretty
knackered. May just get a new one ..

I was really looking for something that I could truly stop it a 3kg lock
    from bouncing around.

Actually, to be honest, a new cargo net is in order. And I use a curly
strengthed cable for general 'pub/shop' style locking up. The big lock only
when I will be out of view of my bike for a number of hours.

It's a lot lighter and easier to carry than the big bas***d of the New York.
Which fits in my Camelbak part of my rucksack.
