am going fairly heavy and doing quality training, but not going to a max
everyday.
The [censored] balance is a good idea. Thanks.
With maxing out in C+J and [censored] and all that other work three times a
week, plus everything else, arn't you afraid of overtraining? I know
you know what you are doing so I guess not.
I don't max out. I don't even go to an unpsyched max that often.
I can split [censored] about 90 kgs right now and power [censored] 85. However,
I'm determined to do a squat [censored] for various reasons that usually would
have 'hard-headed' and 'stubborn' in the mix. So my [censored] is typically
5-6 sets of 2-3 reps and looks more like a power [censored] to OH squat. The
most I have used is 55 kgs. Shoulder flexibility won't allow more - yet.
My C&J is getting close to 300 lbs now, but typically I'll do 5-8 singles
with between 90 kgs and 110 kgs, depending on how I feel. The clean is
normally very easy - the jerk is highly variable.
Hi-pulls are normally done for 3-4 sets of 3-5 reps with speed being the
primary focus. I normally just do the same weight I was using for the C&J.
Front squats are rarely done heavy - most days I do between 275 and 335
for triples and do a few sets.
On the other days the focus isn't on weight at all - it is on getting the
shoulders ROM up to snuff. SO until I can actually get the body inclined
forward at the catch of the [censored] and feel comfortable I'm not using all
that much weight. Ditto for the press. The power jerk is done very light
and focus is on speed.
So - no. I don't think overtraining is an issue. I'm doing some sprint
training as well as the wrestling for GPP and to get ready for ball
season. And I'm thinking seriously of playing rugby this summer.
