Use a news client, not a web browser. This isn't actually run by google, you
    know.

    Works for me.

Unfortunately, my news server is going to start charging me ?10 per year
from April 1st, which is annoying. Might have to switch to the ISP's.

    All news.individual.net users, see http://news.individual.net/commercial.php
for details. This is somewhat of a bummer.

Cheap at half the price. Honestly, I don't begrudge them a penny of
    it.

I also just got the email from them and at first thought 'that's a bummer'
was there, but in hindsight and considering what other, even 'premium',
news servers charge, it's well worth, in fact really very well worth, the
money, and more. I will be happy to register and pay for it.

    IMHO .. 😉

Of course, one of the little bugbears with the system is its ability to
strip the ? (Euro), £ (Pound) and other non-ASCII symbols from my plain text
    postings.

I agree. It was better when it was free but I don't begrudge them £7 a
year for the good service they provide.

If you are referring to Turkish lira, it is not anymore, thanks to throwing away shameful 6 zeros.
Now it is only, 18.60 YTL

Indeed. I always thought that it couldn't last for ever. Esp. as the
number of users must have been gradually increasing.

I imagine I'll be sticking with them.

    10 Euros is cheap enough.

At the moment its £0 because I can't get past the tick the T&C's to
    register page. Ah well

My thoughts exactly. Fair price for and excellent service. Why change? My
two obvious alternatives drove me to them in the first place.

Do like the man says: click the link (to read the T&C). They are

Well since I already have a perfectly adequate (in theory) news-server
supplied by my ISP, I will switch back to it and see how flaky it is
    over the next month.

    What's the alternative?

The internet amuses me, as does it all of us maybe...maybe.

Like, it's free. Oh really? Who says and why and how come? No, really,
    it's all free....forever. [yawn].
