Let me guess, howabout all the newsgroups related to health and
the study showed health benefits from taking vitamin C.

Here's a clue: Eat an orange, pal. you don't need supplements, you
need a proper diet. If Jesus had wanted you to be taking vitamin
pills, he would have given you pill trees, you know. (Or maybe you
    don't.)

If Adam and Eve (or one of their descendants) had not sinned, our
genome would still be perfect and there would be no need for any
supplementation. That not being the case, I tend to accept the need
based on repeated trials showing a benefit.

That supplies only about 70mg C. Wild animals which produce their own
vitamin C produce the amount equvilent to about 13g/day in humans,
which would take about 186 oranges. Here's a clue: Eat 186 oranges,
    pal.

  3. So, do you think it's enough to be taking one a day vitamins and also
having a reasonably balanced diet- you know fresh veggies and fruit
each day? Or would you say that's not sufficient?

And if not Adam and Eve had not sinned and invented irrigation
technique (the original word of Gan Edin means non-irrigated land,
that is, the steppes around Eufrat and Tigris used by nomads for
    grazing etc.

This would not be sufficient. There might well be the
need for additional calcium and vitamin D, and even
vitamin C; these needs will vary from person to person.

Vitamin E studies have yielded various results; it would
be hard to get what many of us believe should be consumed
by any diet whatever. There may be other ingredients as
well; do not assume otherwise. But it is also necessary
to watch for overdoses of anything, including water. One
recent fraternity initiation produced a death by drinking
    five quarts of water.

What kind of an idiot thinks they need vitamin pills instead of a

And in order to make profit on the pill production for NASA, the

Myth. There is no empirical evidence for this.
The myth that vitamin C and B6 (pyridoxine) cause kidney stones,
still finds considerable media acceptance and exposure, despite it
never having any empirical basis[33a] and actually disproved in
1996[89]. Instead magnesium, with B6 (pyridoxine), helps prevent
    kidney stones[86c].

    [33a] The 120 Year Diet. Roy L Walford (1986) ISBN 0-671649042-495. Mostly
about calorie restriction, to the exclusion of other anti-aging strategies,
about which he is occasionally unreliable (e.g. selenium, see 7c, 7d) , but
also contains a useful section debunking some of the common myths about
vitamins (pages 150-154) e.g. that vitamin C causes kidney stones.

[86c] Effect of combined supplementation of magnesium oxide and pyridoxine
in calcium-oxalate stone formers. Rattan V, Sidhu H, Vaidyanathan S, Thind
SK, Nath R in Urol Res 1994;22(3):161-5 PMID: 7992461
"The results confirmed the efficacy of MgO-pyridoxine supplementation in
terms of changes in urinary excretion of lithogenic and inhibitory
components, leading to a significant (P < 0.01) decrease in CaOx risk index
    from 0.09 +/- 0.04 at 0 day to 0.05 +/- 0.02 after 120 days of treatment."

of kidney stones in men. Curhan GC, Willett WC, Rimm EB, Stampfer MJ in J

[89b] Potassium-magnesium citrate is an effective prophylaxis against
recurrent calcium oxalate nephrolithiasis. Ettinger B, Pak CY, Citron JT,
    Thomas C, Adams-Huet B, Vangessel A in J Urol 1997 Dec;158(6):2069-73
    PMID: 9366314
"Potassium-magnesium citrate effectively prevents recurrent calcium oxalate
stones, and this treatment given for up to 3 years reduces risk of
    recurrence by 85%."

There are far more who thinks cosmonaut diet is the ideal. Then they
don't need to use time for food making. Very time saving to live on a
    cosmpnaut diet.

And in fact, during the seventies, that was used for ad's in Norwegian
newspapers to sell dried, ready prepared food, just add water, heat up
and eat. (Still it's one of the main ways of preparing food over here
:-( ) (I have to confess, I do it often myself, and have had to pay
the ticket, as diabetes and different late stage side effects like
glaucoma, very cold feet etc. etc. Both my lenses are gone etc.)
