I use a turbo from time to time, but it is a bit dull compared with going
out for a ride. I am blessed with a big hill opposite my house and the hill
is much more interesting than the turbo.

The real bike you might look at is a Dawes Giro 200 - these can be had for
about £230 on eBay - excellent value (£300 list). Stick this is an £80
magnetic turbo and you have a trainer that can not only give you a variable
load workout, but you can take the bike out on the road when it's not
rubbish weather.

Have you considered finding a good Spinning studio. Not all Spinning is
created equal, find a gym or studio that is focused on spinning. You ride
harder and enjoy it allot more that riding on your own and you won;t have to
lay out $1000 or more for a bike.

Id say find a studio with Schwinn or the new Start Trac Spinners

Just a warning though, if you live in an appartment be wary of the noise factor! I had to get rid of a Traxx trainer
and then an aeromagnetic trainer because they were both too noisy for my downstairs neighbour. It took many months to
get a setup we both can live with.
