23F here, and we're under the same blizzard warning as you are, Bob.
They're advising only emergency travel by car, and have pulled the plows
off the roads for safety reasons. If we didn't have dogs, I wouldn't be
going outside at all.

Not sure what we're doing tomorrow, but it will definitely be at home.

I hear ya Shel. I don't know what the coldest was last night. It's
currently -3dF here now. They're saying 15-20" before all's said and
done with stead winds of 20-25 and gusts to 40. But the good news is
that we may get all the way up to 13-15dF sometime today. It's gonna be
a pita but nothing earth shattering.

I've moved the WSM inside the garage and I'm doin' ribs today come hell
or high water! (no lectures please on doing it in the garage. It's a
large garage and the front door which is about 18 feet wide will be open
cause the wind comes from the other direction ;-) There are also side
windows if needed)

Gonna fire up the stove on the three season porch and just watch that
[censored] come come down. It's really another room as opposed to a porch.
It's about 18x30 with windows all the way around it. Then I turn the
floods on in the back yard and sit in the lounger and flip it the "bird"
periodically! ;-)

Tomorrows line up is gonna be a pot roast. Don't have to "tend" it much
so it won't interfere with the football games and it just seems to fit
the weather forecast.

It's this time of year when I'm most happy I moved from Boston to Louisiana.

Wow - worse than I had it. I've got the full weather gear for this
stuff. Full leather coat, at least three layers of clothing, decent
gloves, hat, earmuffs. But let me tell you, at -1F this morning with a
wind chill that puts that at -13F it was #*(#$%& cold!

I survived it though and the 20 minute walk was invigorating. I think I
got into a warm area just before my pinkies were going to start to
freeze solid.

We're only under the warning until 8:00PM but it's snowing pretty
heavily right now. Latest forecast says we could get nearly 3' of the
stuff. Great - but it's just falling on the wrong day.

I just cleaned my fridge and loaded in a mess o' food stuffs. Tomorrow
is cooking day. I may even bake cookies for all of us shovelers on my
street.

Tonight it's just a nice little beef roast done rare and juicy with some
kind of brassica to accompany. Oh, and maybe a baked potato skin. Hmmm.

Mr. Wayne? I'm q-ing here as well. Two slabs of ribs almost ready. 5dF
and dropping and snowing. It's easy to q when you're in nice weather all

I guess I have a different take on that. I don't like the heat, and you can be
naked and still hot. If it's cold you can just put on another layer of
clothing. It's easier to get away from the cold than from the heat.

I most definitely agree with that! Of course, we don't get snow where I
live, not really severe winters (a few days each winter where the minimum
temp overnight was a couple degrees below 0C, but that's it), but we do
get very hot, humid summers. I find it a lot easier to warm up than to
cool down. Like you said, Dave - you can keep adding layers, but there's
only so far you can strip off! And if you're outside, there's usually
laws against nudity, and the sunburn to worry about <g>.

We have reverse cycle air conditioning, which gets run a lot more in
summer than in winter. Of course, as I mentioned summer tends to be more
extreme, but there's also the fact that in winter I can wear warm fleecy
clothes, and sit with a blanket over my legs and be quite comfy. In
summer, the very fabric the lounge is upholstered in can become hot and
prickly (especially if you've stripped off all those layers <g>😉.

My dream would be somewhere where it's consistently in the mid twenties
(that's celsius, so mid to high 70s F, I think) and every night is cool
enough to sleep easily.
