According to Garmins website, a list of DISCONTINUED products include:

Garmin II
Garmin II Plus
Garmin III
Garmin III Plus

with the last updated software for version 3.03 being on March 16, 1999

I've just bought a Vista C from SportExtreme in Denmark. 401.25 euros
including delivery, which translates to 282.41 pounds on my credit
card bill. I'm sure this is a newer model which offers more than the
Plus II? But I've paid a pretty similar price for it.

However, 282 pounds is slightly more than they suggested on the
website - they don't tell you until the checkout that they will charge
in euros rather than in the pounds they quoted up to that point, and
their exchange rate wasn't up-to-date. It would have been slightly
more still if I hadn't used a card that doesn't load the exchange rate
(most add around 2.75%).

Just been for my first walk with my new GPS today. I think I need to
read the manual....

A Garmin manual? Good luck with getting information out of

Coo, ta. That's a big improvement on Garmin's own! I used
the gpsinformation site a bit when I first got my eTrex;
however not understanding most of it I gave it up as a bad
job. I feel a little more equipped to give it another go now
though, so... I may be some time :-)

What was it? I think it was just finding out your current GR without
having to set a waypoint. It really is dead easy, but I'd need to get
the Etrex to remember what buttons to press.

(And I'm not in the mood at the mo' because off work with a cold.
