I have Oury ODI lockons on my bike right now. Best of both. I was getting
blisters/calluses on the pads of my upper palm from smaller grips (Intense
ODI) I switched to the thicker Oury grip and no more problems. Easy to
remove and work on shifters and stuff.

I've used both. I prefer the feel and "traction" of the Oury's the best, but of course nothing stays put like the ODI's. The ODI's were good grips, but I really love the squishy squish of Oury's. May the squishy jokes begin...

I like Oury's but I need to put them on with 3M adhesive to keep them from
slipping when they get wet.

I have 8 pairs of grips,7 are Sram one is Yeti. When I
have a slip grip I have this pump bottle of hairspray I use it. Works
and keeps on working. And my Sram Halfpipes which I have two sets
have never moved from their position since being installed over a year
ago. Maybe this is all because I never let anyone but myself work on my
bikes.

But have you ever tried that hairspray with Oury grips? I'll bet those
SRAM and Yeti grips are nowhere near as thick and squishy and flexible as
Oury grips. When I used hairspray that worked so well with other grips on
Ourys, it didn't last one ride before it let go. I also tried several
different types of adhesives, golf grip tape, spray paint, etc. The Ourys
just laughed at them all and kept moving. I finally wire tied the ends
down. That kept them in place but eventually the grips started tearing
because the while the ends stayed fixed, the middle sections would flex and
move.

Lock-On grips fixed the issue.

I know what you are talking about getting Oury's to stay put. Try "3M Super
77 Adhesive". Oury's are so flexible, that even after gluing them on, I can

I couldn't be bothered with all the witch doctor solutions like hairspray, I
just wanna be able to take the bike apart when I'm traveling which is
frequently these days. I got the Rogue model ODI. Rode them a few times
already and there is no motorcycle throttling at all.

The Rogue has deeper grooves and soak up the trail noise nicely.

Everything in the fleet with flat bars has ODI lock-on grips. Some have
Lizard Skins patterns, some Bontrager and some have original ODI patterns
but they're all good. Rock solid - no twisting and good sticky rubber on
the outside.

Has anybody with the grip slipping problem ever thought of safety wiring
them in place? I know that is how we did it on motocross bikes so why
wouldn't it work for a mountain bike.

I've been using the Lock-ons on my rigs for a while now. The only
problem I had was after a particularly rough outing about two years ago.
I was cleaning the bike off and I saw that on the left grip the
outside hex screw (tiny little buggers) was missing. So I had to buy a
new set of clamps to get a new bolt for the grip. I have a spare parts
bin in the garage and the new clamps I had bought are still in there
since I haven't had to replace my clamps, yet.

After I replaced the little hex bolt I just used a bit of grease on the
threads and they haven't budged since. I like the ODI Lock-ons. I
haven't had any experience with the Oury's.

I was wondering do you still use a glove with these grips in warm
weather? The ODI Lock-ons I use are a bit gooey but not too thick as
far as I can notice. Reason I ask is that in winter I use a glove that
has gel inserts in the upper palm. They have solved my pain problems.
But I cannot stand using them in warmer weather because my hand sweat.
I prefer in warmer weather to not wear gloves at all. If I do not wear
gloves with my present grips I will start to get that dull pain running
up my forearms. So I guess my real question boils down to just how much
thicker are the Oury's and if I can get away with not wear gloves in the
Spring and Summer?

Those are the exact same grips on my rigs. If the hex bolts loosen up
try some grease on the threads.

I wear non padded gloves year around. I like to keep the skin on my hands
when I crash.
