is this correct?
or are the nbar folks havin' just another sale?

I've been hearing rumors for about a year that Performance bought them.
I think this is bad news because I've always liked Nashbar better. I
guess we need to hope that Performance picks up some of the things
Nashbar carried but Perf didn't: 36h rims, chainrings for triples, etc.

I don't know, but I'd think if Nashbar was going out of business (and
wasn't simply transferring the inventory to Performance), you'd see
better deals than what's on there at the moment.

Performance bought Nashbar several years ago. That's no rumor. But I
doubt that Nashbar is closing up shop. They have their own customer
base and market niche. I prefer Nashbar to Performance.

Ditto. Back to the original question: it looks to me like there's a lot
of things that aren't marked down, so I'm guessing it's a really
determined effort to reduce inventory via a year-end sale.

Dear Gene,

Nashbar is merely liquidating non-liquid assets, which means
turning something that does not flow well (they can't pay
their employees with unsold wheel rims) into something that
does (a $20 bill moves quite easily through the economy).

Unpopular stock isn't really worth much, so the puddle is
not very big when it's liquidated and converted to cash.

Ask a silly question, get a stodgy answer.

I wouldn't worry too much. It seems Nashbar has certain items that go on
'sale' on a very regular basis. If you regularly check their catalogs you
can tell when the real sales occur, which is not that often. I usually try
to wait for a real sale and then look for any additional coupon codes that
might be around.

Just another sale, to reduce holiday overstocks in time for the next inventory

My roommate and I were doing that last night for fun, leaning over about

Yep, they had their "lowest prices of the year" sale about 4-5 months ago.
That was the time to stock up on tires, chains, bar tape, and whatever else

Use "Nashbar Coupons" in Google and you should turn up a website named
edealinfo. It lists coupon codes for Nashbar and Performance. And
others. No 10% off coupon code at Nashbar at the moment. They had a
10% off coupon every month for the past 5 months. And a 20% off one
weekend in mid December. Darn coupon codes cause me to buy stuff from
Nashbar I do not need. And about once a year or so I get a 20% off
coupon in the mail from Performance. 20% off combined with the Team
Performance 10% rebate program and you can save hundreds of dollars.

They may not be up to date, but they do offer an interesting
