They're liquidating their overstock and clearance merchandise. And the discounts are not all that stunning in many cases. -- Typoes are a feature, not a bug. Some gardening required to reply via email. Words processed in a facility that contains nuts.
Performance bought Nashbar several years ago. That's no rumor. But I doubt that Nashbar is closing up shop. They have their own customer base and market niche. I prefer Nashbar to Performance.
Ditto. Back to the original question: it looks to me like there's a lot of things that aren't marked down, so I'm guessing it's a really determined effort to reduce inventory via a year-end sale.

Use "Nashbar Coupons" in Google and you should turn up a website named edealinfo. It lists coupon codes for Nashbar and Performance. And others. No 10% off coupon code at Nashbar at the moment. They had a 10% off coupon every month for the past 5 months. And a 20% off one weekend in mid December. Darn coupon codes cause me to buy stuff from Nashbar I do not need. And about once a year or so I get a 20% off coupon in the mail from Performance. 20% off combined with the Team Performance 10% rebate program and you can save hundreds of dollars. http://www.edealinfo.com/Coupons/

I also just learned about these kinds of coupons. Maybe I missed the "instructions" on these sites, but are the coupons only good for e-commerce (ie, nashbar.com or performance.com), or can they be used for phone orders? --Roy Zipris

I've used the coupon codes on phone orders and web orders. Sometimes the expired coupon codes listed on the websites will be rejected by the person on the phone but will still work on the website. I have received a few coupon codes that specifically said web orders only. The worst that can happen is the person or website will reject the coupon, and then you can cancel the order and try the other method, or not order. I don't think there are too many bicycle parts orders that are life and death. And if they are then whether a coupon works or not will not matter much.

Liquidation means converting assets to cash. It doesn't necessarily mean the company is going out of business, just that it's trying to get rid of something.
