This happened last night, and again tonight after eating dinner. I'm feeling very dizzy almost like the room is spinning, and very light headed. What is causing this? I do know I'm hypoglycemic, but I haven't been treating it properly until starting Atkins again.

drug side effect?
I don't take any drugs. The only things I take are a Multi-Vitamin (1 a day at breakfast), Vitex (3, 2x a day-morning and dinner), and Fiber Laxative (2, 2x a day-morning and dinner) pills. Last night, I didn't take the Vitex and the Fiber until 3 hours after dinner, but I was feeling dizzy halfway through, and it lasted for an hour. Tonight it started about 30 min after we were done.

That is suggesting I eat straight glucose or sugar...won't that affect my diet?
If you're hypoglycemic, your diet is no longer on the top of your priority lists, and you may be under-eating carbs anyway. And two grams of glucose isn't going to ruin your diet.
And it's glucose, but NOT sugar - sugar has fructose, which has more impact on the liver (and thus hormones) than glucose.

When was the last time you did a fasting blood sugar test. Just curious.
Gosh, I don't recall-I think it may have been late 2003, but my Dr's have always ordered them on the spot-not telling me to fast first. If it wasn't 2003, it was 2001. But again, my Dr tested on the spot and didn't have me fast.
The last glucose test (complete w/ glucola) I've had, I was pregnant w/ our 3rd child, and that would've been around 2003, February I think. But that wasn't fasting.
Does anyone know where I can buy strips for an Accucheck Advantage? I have one of those I bought new back in 2001-but I can't find strips anywhere! It has a microchip, so I need the correct strips.

For me, it would be around 4g of glucose since I'm over 150 lbs-I weigh 287. But, I see your point.
I remember this happening last time too, now that I think about it.

This happens to me around Day 5/6 of induction. It's usually gone in 48 hours. The other possible cause is a virus.
I'm voting that you have a virus. Millions of us suffer dizziness several times a year and those of us with partners often find the partner getting the same symptoms a day or two later.

I went through the same thing last night. I'm about a week into induction also. I chalked it up to my slow-ass metabolism finally getting the hint that the sugar was really gone and not coming back.
i.e., minor sugar/carb withdrawal.
I also have low blood pressure and am pretty inclined to getting lightheaded when I am sick and such.
____ ~210/*/150 Started 1/3/05 *Not weighing till reference jeans are loose. Scarred by previous scale experiences.
Did you eat the same food 2 nights in a row, or from the same bunch of vegetables?
Vegetables that are not washed well , especially leafy ones such as romaine lettuce, can cause poisoning leading to dizziness at minimum.

Does this diet get you revved up? Could you have anxiety and be breathing too fast? That would make you light headed. I sometimes get a little light if I get up too fast when I am on a diet.
