I don't know this FabulustRunner, and I've read this ng
only a couple of days, but I can say based on my personal
encounter with his internet personna that Donovan's
characterization is false, except for the "Don't take it

FabulustRunner didn't attack ME. So he doesn't attack
"everyone". 🙂 Furthermore, he HAD a reason he could
have attacked me because I made a careless reference to
"4 mile" as "4-minute mile", but he gave a friendly
correction instead.

discipline.

Why put ANYONE on killfile? All you have to do is see the
"author" you don't like and NOT READ IT.

and some helpful souls would say "Dear Friend", when in the
context of usage it clearly meant "Dumb [censored]". So when the
term DF (Dear Friend) is used in those ngs, in context,
everyone but some newbies in the ng would know what the
poster meant, "Dumb [censored]".

It depends on HOW you read ngs. Because of the number of ngs
I browse through (some occasionally) and sometimes away from
the internet weeks at a time (in parts on earch with no access
of the internet <G> -- that really exist!) to make sense of
any thread, I need to read it IN CONTEXT.

That's why I read and post with GROUPS.GOOGLE.COM. It's
completed threaded, from 1981. :-) In the new beta version,
you can ask for the old ONE-LINE per thread option (with
date/time; subject; and author).

rec.running is a group of moderately heavy traffic only.

For example, there were only 25 LINES (just now) covering
all the threads posted on December 17 that had not been
followed-up since. FabulstRunner was the latest author
on about 8 of those threads.

There is "star" option to watch only those threads you
shoose to watch.

In short, it's easy and not time consuming to be aware of
ALL the threads and ALL the posters, and read only those
you choose. There is no email box to cutter. It's ALL
(hundreds of millions of posts since 1981 retrievable
from http://groups.google.com.

I have only ONE person in ngs who brags about having put
me on his killfile (I am flamed by hundreds over the
years, and getting fewer and fewer by the year) and that
person (Lee Bell is his name) just couldn't resist putting
a dig in (even when he had me killfiled) when he read
quotes from OTHERS (out of context of what I posted of
course), and consistently make a fool of himself that way.

You can killfile any poster, but you cannot killfile what
OTHERS post (and cited) of what was said by that poster.

There's a thin line between what a troll and what's non-
troll. There are a couple of ng-well-known trolls, and
even their dozens of posting ALIAS names are widely known.
There is no need to killfile any of them, and you probably
don't even know all the troll's aliases to killfile them all.

After 20 years of internet ng browsing and posting (in nearly
10,000 threads), I've covered only a few dozens of the
35,000 ngs, and read less than 0.000001 percent of the posts
in most groups.

So, considered yourself UNLUCKY to have been struck by
lightning; or LUCKY to have seen a passing meteor that
comes around less often than once every 20 years. :-)

That's fine. I'd much rather read what legit posters have to say.
Besides, most of the trustworthy members of this newsgroup don't read and
reply to trolls' posts either.

Not by my definition. Maybe I should not be using the term "troll." All I
know is that in my killfile are people who's posting history to
