  1. Zoke, or Fox air forks. Will they hold my 210 pound ass up, under normal
(I'm borderline Barney) XC riding conditions?

I'm ready to replace the heavy Psylo (dialed down to 80 mm) I have now,
before it give me problems. Pretty much anything 80 mm is going to be air,
'cept a '04 Vanilla with the spacers adjusted. The '05 Zoke Marathon Race is
a race fork (possibly flimsy?). I don't race. That leaves me with the Fox
F80RLT. Stiffer, and light(er) than the Psylo. That's it! The F80RLT it is.

    Thanks for the help.

    Yo, wait up Mark,,,,,,,,,,,

There's no need to limit yourself to 80mm. My frame was designed for 80mm
and I now ride a 130mm on it. Works for me!

FWIW I don't like the air forks - too much fiddlin & diddlin - A good coil
/ oil is cheaper and less hassle.

No kidding? You did not find the angle too slack?

That's just it. I 'do' want simple, but want something lighter than a 4.25
pound fork. That U-Turn feature sucks too.

If you don't like the slack angle it will go down to 100mm - 4.0 lbs

good point, I ride air and I have to adjust it before almost every ride
    - especially when it's hot... but I still like the ride a little better.

Have you measured your head angle at 130mm & 100mm? If so, please post up.

I use a cheap angle checker I got from 3rd Hand (online) .
I measure the angle, then turn the bike around, and measure again
(compensating for angle of the ground). Because my angle checker
is so cheap, and the indicator needle isn't straight, I also measure with
the checker facing both ways. I average the 4 measurements. With a
known level surface, and a good tool, measuring once would work.

Have you measured the difference in changing from a 100mm to a 130mm fork
    on your bike?

    or some other combination.?

is 3rd hand a bike shop? my search engine can't find it easily. do you
    have a link?

No. I've measured different bikes though. I changed a bike I was riding from 130 to 105,
but that was before I had the angle checker.

I think it used to be www.thirdhand.com, but doesn't seem to be there now.
They had lots of bike tools.

Your local hardware store should have an angle checker. Hopefully one short enough to
place on your head tube. It's tricky to measure bikes when the head tube is shorter than
    the checker.

  16. I really would dissagree with the assertion that air forks are adjustment hogs. I have used my Marzo Z.4 air for over 4 yrs and it never looses air and I only have to maintain it as I would my coil shock(periodic external seal oiling).
I ride in snow as well as summer race seasons and I have specifically looked for this thermal expansion induced lockout. Never found it.
