wrapping a frame

  1. just curious, i've seen bikes down here at school like this, but why do people wrap a frame up in tape? i can understand a little on the top tupe to keep it from getting hit when the bars turn sideways, but aside from that 2 inch peice, i've never been able to understand the rest, is there a purpose, or just something people do when they get bored and have a bike, and tape both in the same room?

    I think the theory is the uglier you make your bike look the less likely it is to get stolen. And if you tape over the decals your average thief won't know if it's an expensive bike or not.
