<< from a Systems point of view:
What, if anything has changed since you were symptom free:
1. different types / intensity of exercise.
1a.Excessive stretching?
2. Stressed or worried? This is the main thing that triggers back pain for
me.
3. Sitting/working more?
4. Driving more? (increased driving is correlated w/back & sciatica
problems)
5. Shoes worn out?
6. Weight gain (when I gained 10 lbs 10 yrs ago all kinds of pains
appeared).
If nothing has changed that you can see, then make some changes and see if
it gets better. Or visit an Osteopath or Chiro and see what they see.

Thanks for you thoughts.
But as for the ball?
Less exercise.
Less stretching.
Sressed, depressed.
Sitting more in wrong-type chair.
Shoes fine.
Weight ~same.
Correction course:
Resume exercise/stretch program.
Get better seating choice.
As for the rest, just doing my best.
The first 2 should correct my back,
As for the rest, just doing my personal best.
