I'll comment on that later :-)
Quoted message said:If you were lucky enough to see/hear it, I was the first mechanical
failure of the race! Came off that damn ramp on my first lap, buckling
the wheel. Of course, my team-mates were sorely overprepared, did one
Didn't see that, but I did hear the commentator say "blah.. blah.
OHHH!! OH! Can we get some assistance to the ramp section!"
obviously when someone went down - I think on the finishing
ramp not the start but I could be mistaken.

Spent the rest of the time at our lovely campsite with a view - up on
the ridge towards the showers. Great spot.
So you heard Saul did 24 laps too did you? I did, so was surprised to
see the official results only say 19... Either way- freakin machine
that guy!
It makes more sense now.. I heard he did 24 laps and I wanted to see
his lap times coz his first one was a stormer. I checked and a lot were
over 1hr - it didn't even click that he couldn't have done 24 laps! doh!
Like you said 19 laps is still phenomenal - the dude mustn't be able to
sit down for a month!

and build.... ouchy. One expensive race!
I was cleaner than last year I think - didn't break anything off this time.
I screwed the brakes on the SS on the first lap and the things would
stick on and then release, stick on then release. Gimme a "brake"!
Actually, how do I identify a fractured rib? ;-) I elbowed myself in
the chest, I think, when I went OTB.. made a freaky clicking noise
when I stretched yesterday.. "That bit's never done that before..."
A little bruising and the standard sore back - not at all bad for my
dirt virgin-esque riding. Oh.. and I was riding clipless offroad for the
first time - actually went quite well - helped by the fact that my chicken
[censored] would unclip a foot before a few of the tricky looking corners. I
raced in sneakers last year - Phil on our team rode in Blundstones this
year!!! Rock on!
