My doc says I lack an enzyme, but he never did any further testing. My gall
bladder is fine.
I was born with this situation. Always had a "bad stomach." My mother didn't
cook; I lived on fast food.
When I started eating healthy around age 40, my lifelong "bad stomach" went
away. When I slipped and went back to my old ways, "bad stomach" again.
Viola!
Limit the fats.
I don't do fat-free. I eat chicken, fish, some red meat, fruits, veggies,
and flax/protein cereal during the week and allow myself a free-for-all
buffet after church with friends (eg-fried fish with tartar sauce, fries,
ice cream, apple pie). As long as I limit my heavy fat intake to one *meal*
a week (not one *day*), I'm fine. If I try two "bad" meals a week, my
stomach gets angry.
When folks at church are eating donuts and bagels, I eat my no-sugar
chocolate bar with my coffee. Having those bars keeps me from the real bad
stuff they put out in the hallways.

Low carb + low fat doesn't work.
Please clarify your illness that caused you to reject fats.

Quoted message said:My local health food stores are now as expensive as mail order, so I'm
looking for a mail order source with good prices on low carb items (e.g.,
cereal, bars).
The catch is that I also count calories and eat little fat and little
sugar
Quoted message said:(splenda only; the other sugar alcohols upset my stomach). I can't eat fat
because of a digestive disorder; too muc fat makes me ill (what a great
disorder to have, by the way).
Is there an online store with consistently decent prices and a good
selection? One that has low-calories foods as well.
I try to find snack bars that are under 150 calories (for instance).
Help appreciated.
