  1. Can we do a straw poll of how many people don't wear a helmet compared to
    those that do.

Please reply to this post with either Yes or No in the Subject and let's do
    a count after a week.

Sometimes I do sometimes I don't. Your poll is flawed.

Changing the subject means that some newsreaders will not thread the

What about them like me that wears one when it's icy, and if I ever go
on tricky offroad paths, but otherwise don't?

    No. Or yes. Depends.

Why don't you take the time to do some research of your own - you're clearly
new round here, so it may be worth your while checking the newsgroup
archives to find out what has been said many many times already.

I'll not pretend this is a trivial task - but it's a worthwhile way of
catching up with the many years of discussion some of us have endured.

That doesn't leave me an option of "sometimes", which is the truth of
    the matter.

And your sample base will not be terribly useful, I would suspect,
especially as voluntary poll replies make for a self selecting group of
people that Give A Damn in any case.

  10. As I say . . . but mostly to deflect criticism rather than impact with other
    traffic.
I know from reading the many posts on this subject that there are planty in
URC who will think this to be a ridiculous point of view.

I have a two word answer.

The second word is "off". I wonder if you can work out the first
    word?

No need to be patronising. Do your own research and you might want to
    reconsider your definition of new!

So having read all the debate and supporting facts, what makes you think
    that helmets are "crucial"?

I don't think yes / no covers the answers:

    Always
    Sometimes
    Never

    gets closer,

At least put a poll on the net. Make a little effort if you're interested in
    knowing.

    Anyway, rarely.
