  1. I know I should know better but this past week was the worst stomach ache
I've had in the 6 years doing LC. Almost an entire day and night. Took me 3
days to recover. Apparently I didn't read my labels, and ingested a few
different products with Malitol all in the same day. Usually I can stand a
decent dose of the stuff before I have problems, but my wife brought home a
sugar free cheesecake. It had Xylitol, and I had a nice sized piece. The 2
together spelled doom! What an incredibly brutal night I had.

Yeah, I've given up on sugar alcohols for this reason.

  3. Sugar Alcohols sure do act like laxatives. The upside is that some folks
abuse laxatives to lose weight. There is a good chance you have come out
    ahead.

Sometimes one sugar alcohol will be well tolerated, while another
might as well be ground glass with a sprinkle of nails for flavor.
:-) Lactitol is my personal kryptonite. If it's anywhere on the
label - regardless of how minor an ingredient - I have to avoid it.
Looks like xylitol isn't your friend. That kind of stinks, since it's
in a lot of the sugar free gums. If you like cheesecake, Myra's
recipe is *good*, and you can use splenda instead. It's a little
time-consuming, but worth it every once in a great while.

    Take care,

But that's the question I'm asking based on what Cubit wrote - which appears
to imply that there is an 'upside' to SAs due to their laxative effect. The
mere emptying of the bowel and fluid loss won't result in any fat loss.
Also, as far as I know, you're not [censored] out what you ate as the result
of taking a laxative (I've eaten enough SAs to know this first hand, too).
What goes into the stomach still has to get processed by the body, though it
is easy to see how sucking out liquids can interfere with nutritent
    absorption.

It also freezes well (and it better, as it makes a lot). I made this a

if it wasn't an effective purging technique, bulimics wouldn't be using

Bulimics also vomit--in fact, they use vomiting as their main way to get rid

Boy, I can relate to that! Last night I was at a bar that served free pizza
for the patrons who came in to watch the football game. I ate four slices
of pizza. Kept me up all night with a king-size bellyache.

Just not used to that kind of food.

they're concerned with *weight* loss, and i don't think it matters much
