  1. I start school in a couple weeks. I am going to have to change my eating habits
I believe. Still low carb and all. I usually eat 3 meals a day. Breakfast,
    lunch, dinner.
The hours I will be attending are noon to five. No break, no lunch time.

I eat breakfast in the mornings around 10 oclock. Then lunch around 1. Then
dinner around 7 at night. If hungry before bed. I eat before 9-10.

Any ideas on how to work this out. Eat one large meal before school... On the
way home, eat some beef jerky or a boiled egg. Then dinner at the usual time.
I don't know. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Can you eat a light breakfast a little earlier, say
around 9 a.m., then have lunch around 11:30? Then pack
a snack to take to class (they must have a break), and
    have dinner as normal.

For a few months earlier this year, my schedule changed so that I started at
noon, and worked until 8pm. No break, and in my work I cannot "snack at my
    desk".
It was doable. Going for 5 hours instead of 8 sounds drastically better.

What I did was wake up earlier so that I could have breakfast earlier. This
would often be a light breakfast because I wasn't used to eating so early.
Anyhow, then I would eat "lunch" JUST before I had to drive to work. I'd
eat dinner when I got home.

The first week was the most difficult, but after that my body (and
especially my appetite) seemed to adjust to the new eating times and I
didn't usually feel hungry during my 8-hour no-food time.

If you do find yourself hungry during your 5-hour no-food time, you could
carry a container of nuts in your bag. An ounce of nuts is often enough so
that you don't feel hungry between meals.

Actually, looking at the times you currently eat meals... you have
breakfast, then 3 hours later you eat lunch, then 5 hours later you eat
dinner. Your new schedule doesn't sound like it will be much different,
just adjust the times that you eat your meals - the amount of time between
    them will be similar.

I did something like this with a change in schedule this past year - the
real difficulty for me was that it changed from day to day, rather than
being consistent. What I did was to eat breakfast earlier - in fact,
rather than eating the big breakfast I was used to, the medium lunch,
and smaller dinner, I switched it around. This is a BAD idea - so, now,
it's back to a very early breakfast, an early lunch, and then, as I work
from around 1pm to around 10pm on some nights with a very short (15
minutes or so) break, I make sure that I have something to eat in that
break, and things were fine. I was hungry, but I've gotten used to that.

On the nights when I didn't go as late (7pm) it was easy - just a light
supper at home around 8pm when I got there. A very light supper,
because bed and breakfast aren't that far away.

Boiled eggs, celery sticks, cheese cubes and water will be your friends
(pack them in a small insulated bag)

no lunch break in an 8-hour shift? isn't that pretty much against the
    law?

AFAIK, employers cannot require you to work more than 4
    hours without a break.

Technically, I was allowed a lunch break.

There was just nobody there to provide coverage in my absence. If anything
had gone wrong while I was at lunch, it would be entirely my fault. So,
like many other employees at my work, I chose to not take a lunch after a
few times of being reprimanded when things went wrong while I was on break.

It has improved. After I was promoted out of that position and into one of
more authority, I insisted that coverage be provided for the employee who
had to take over my shift permenantly. Of course, now she takes 8 breaks a
day (she's a smoker) and works a 10 hour shift to keep up with the workload
(which has been much reduced because now is our slow period).

how is that allowing you a lunch break? i call [censored].

that doesn't sound like a very good company to work for. you shouldn't
have to insist on people being allowed to take their legally mandated
    lunch breaks.

I'm with you there - I worked for a church, and there was no coverage,
so I frequently ate at my desk. On the other hand, during the long
afternoons when no one was there, I could walk the length of the church
over and over again, for an hour or two, and as long as I was within
reach of the telephone, I could get away with it. As long as I got
everything else done, of course, which, in the summer, was easy.
Winter, not so much, because the work-load was heavier.

    When I don't get breaks now, it's because I'm scheduling myself - I
know, I know, but it's about being paid by the hour/student, and knowing
that there is little work in the summer, so I have to pack 'em in while
I can. They also all want the same time, and/or are not available at
    other times, so...
