The Polar Challenge was quite entertaining but one chap got a
frost-bitten [censored] and have to have part of it removed 🙁

Big price to pay for not doing up zips properly.

I found it more interesting than the polar race, which seemed a
pointless exercise to me, but there you go . . .

I had a look at the website:

www.bbc.co.uk/nature, and there are numerous walks described with
historic interest, for whatever area you click on.
Not much in Manchester, but quite a few in the Yorkshire counties.

I'd expect loads around Clapham in Yorkshire. That whole area is a
mecca for geography field trips. Erratics, non-conformities, faults,
clints and grykes and pot-holes galore. :-)

There's a paraglider pilot in the Dales that uses a snorkel for that
kind of thing. Others use plastic butty bags and then empty them over
the side! If it should rain on a sunny day...... :-)

Well Mapman was finally on last night in Wales! Yippee! Don't you
reckon he's just waited for the worst weather forecast on purpose?

And what did you think of that 4 day race in Borneo last week? Starting
with a run up and down a mountain half the size of Everest! Now that
looked like terrific fun (if it wasn't so hard), especially the bit at
the top.

going to climb Everest!

Followed at 9pm by British Isles: A Natural History. Last week's
programme showed a lot of good stuff in Scotland. This time, at the
regional bit at the end of the programme, Welsh viewers get to see Iolo
Williams exploring Cwm Idwal.
