  1. Grab a snickers or two. Yeah, they aren't the most healthy, but seem
    to give me that extra boost when I need it. Energy bars just don't do
    it for me. Accompanied with a Powerade, you should get the energy you
    are looking for.

    85+ degres and a snickers is mud. In addition to your gels/gt tabs
    /lava tabs/
    you may want to throw a handful of jolly rancher hard candys or some
    other hard candy you like. Three of them give about 70 cal of pure
    sugar and help keep your mouth moist in the heat. With practice
    you'll be able to unwrap them with one hand while climbing a hill.

    I dunno... the way I'm huffing when climbing a "real hill" would make
    it dangerous to put anything in my mouth that could get sucked down my
    windpipe. The thought of choking while at or above AT is pretty
    scary...
