Ah... you missed out the various combinations of H*lf*rds.. ;-)
H*lf*rds
Halfrauds
Halfwits
H*****ds
Half**ds
The words that should not be spoken out loud ;-) I'm sure there's more.
Mind you, this is Usenet and it's not moderated, so I take the view that if *I*
don't want to see something/someone, it's up to me to set my kill-file
appropriately or simply not read the post. If someone posts something I don't
like, that's my problem, not the poster's.
Cheers, helen s

Hang on, how are we going to discuss the Prince of Denmark without
getting into all those tedious "to be/not to be" flame wars if we
don't mask the name of the play?

Refer to it as "The Danish Play" in the style of Macbeth? Damn. Now
I've gone and said 'Macbeth' (cue appropriate Blackadder the Third
footage....) ;-)

Stoppit. We performed the scottish play[1] a few years ago, and I did
myself a nasty ingury on the last night.
[1] Verdi's version of it.

Alex Salmond - thank you for saying the obvious. Can you repeat what
James VI did, for us poor sassenachs with no acceptable leaders?

As for Halfords.....
I could go on...
And the basic reason is that some folk here are perpetuating a convention
whereby helmet and Halfords are words that can not be spelled out in full by
'true believers' because they are represenative of all that is reviled by a
minority of posters to the newsgroup who like to pass off the convention as
an in house joke. It's almost as sad as folk who can reel off entire Monty
Python scripts and convulse at the hearing of the smallest fragment of a
Monty Python quote.
Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise

Blimey Vernon, I wouldn't take it /that/ seriously. It's only a newsgroup,
after all.

I don't take it /that/ seriously. Life would be unbearable for me if I took
it /that/ seriously :-)
