Same here, Vancouver area, and also I think on Vancouver Island. Doesn't
hurt that we have the crazy PNW CX scene just a few hours south to
inspire us.

Nope ... Only 6 years; but I got involved with the series about 4 years ago,
and have been told all the stories.

And some of our current crop are doing quite well on the national level, and
not all of them are LDS.

Mitchell Peterson finished 7th overall in the U23 category at the USGP
Cyclocross Series; his brother Chris finished 21st overall in U23 (and
technically Chris is still a Junior).

Kathy Sherwin, who rides for Velo Bella - Kona finished 17th overall in the
Elite women; after spending much of the late summer and fall recovering from
dislocated ribs earned racing a full NORBA series.

Connor O'Leary finished 17th in the Juniors, despite only doing 4 of the 6
races in the series; he has been dominating the Men's B category in the
local series.

And Jon Gallagher finished 9th in the Masters 35+ category, finishing 6th
and 8th in the two Portland races.

That's right... if you suck at it (like I do) you have 1) a built-in
excuse for moderate to poor results, and 2) you don't have to take it
too seriously. Its better NOT to take it seriously, just show up and
get your grin on.

I have never come anything but last in a 'cross race. I think that's a
proud record to maintain.
