  1. Okay, I'm ready to tackle knocking off the 10 lbs. I piled on over the
winter which the gym hasn't touched. I am not looking forward to the
usual Lean Cuisine, carrots and celery, not-another-salad-dammit
regimen. Anyone have any tasty recipes (esp. do-ahead stuff I can
carry to the office for lunch) that will help me make my jeans less
    tight :-D

Stir-fry (no rice!) is the first thing that comes to mind. Or how about
grilled/broiled marinated chicken kabobs? Since we're heading into fresh
veggie season, I'd also consider BLT's on toasted wheat bread - add the mayo
at the last minute, of course. I know it's getting warmer out, but homemade
soups are a good option, too. That's all I can immediately think of without
any kind of "salad" thingy. I hope this helped a little bit!

I like cole slaw sandwiches on pumpernickel bread (the slices of bread
are smaller than regular bread, 1/2 c slaw). The combo is wonderful.
Toasting the bread is better, but impossiblel for lunch at work. I
thin the slaw with a bit of buttermilk to reduce the mayonnaise used.
Roast beef, roast pork, or ham sandwich (limit to 2 oz meat and I
don't use a spread). I also bring diet JellO gelatin and diet JellO
pudding in 1/2 cup containers. Soup: the "Indonesian" Sweet Potato
and Cabbage soup is low cal and satisfying. I bring leftover
vegetables in 1 cup containers. Left over salmon. Actually, I use a
lot of leftovers for lunch, which is fine with me.

I enjoy dieting. I measure and I keep track of calories. It keeps my
inner OC satisfied. I don't mind making a batch of soup or slaw and
eating it for days. I was doing fine (losing about 1 lb/week) until I
went to NC in March. I've kept the weight off but haven't resumed the
diet. I still have quite a way to go. Next week it's back in the
saddle! I'm having two waves of visitors later this week. That's no
    time to diet.

    ============
You could join the Nutra System diet and knock it off in one month or so.
That's what I am on now.
Most of the NS diet is about portion size; small. I always make sure I
count my calories each day and I always stay below 1200 calories a day. I
usually eat around 1100 calories a day or less. Between meals I have a fat
free yogurt with around 60 or 70 calories and a fruit cup for 80 calories.
When I eat out, I order chicken or fish with two vegetables and a side salad
with fat free dressing on the side; if not fat free, lite dressing. If I
don't order that, I order a salad topped with grilled chicken. Cut way back
on your salt and drink lots of water. I have been very satisfied with the
Nutra System diet. You can join on line if interested. If you don't want
to go on the NS diet you could eat Egg Beaters or Quick Quaker Oatmeal for
breakfast, low sodium soup and a salad for lunch and small portion of meat
or fish with two vegetables for dinner with the yogurt and fruit between
meals. NS allows one small dessert a day after dinner, so you could have
one cookie or buy one of those 100 calorie boxes that are out now that have
bars, cookies and crackers in them for a dessert. You just don't want the
dessert calorie count to be over 200 calories. Those would be my
    suggestions for a diet.

  5. plain yogurt 2 cups, a can of crushed pineapples drained and a package of vanilla yogurt...wonderful...

  6. If you wanna lose the weight, you have to pick a diet plan and stick
with it. I have taken two different routes and both were successful.
It depends on how your body metabolizes certain foods. Carbs are the
devil for me! I used to make turkey roll-ups to bring to work. It's
simple: Put lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, and cheese on a piece of
turkey, and roll it up. Or if you prefer to eat whatever you want,
then moderation and counting calories is the way to go. When I did
weight watchers, I would bring a bag of microwave popcorn to work, and
I could eat and do work at the same time.

I didn't include any recipes, as this stuff easy to toss together with
    whatever is at-hand. It's how I eat 80% of the time--the other 20% is
    whatever sounds good and beer.

Also, try journaling with a freebie program like FitDay
(http://www.fitday.com) to get an accurate calorie count.

    Try:
    --Homemade chicken-vegetable soup. No noodles.
    --Omelets with vegies and cheese.
--Chopped vegetable salads, instead of tossed green salad.
--Salad of avocado, roasted corn, tomatoes, black beans, green peppers,
and onions. Serve with chicken breasts or steak.
--Yogurt cheese with honey and fruit, or trail mix (no more than 1/4
    cup).
--50/50 combo of oatmeal and all-bran, along with a tablespoon of
    raisins.
--Salad with meat: any kind of tossed greens topped with a portion (3-4
ounces) of lean meat or poultry or fish. Toss on fresh berries, seeds,
    and nuts (in moderation).
