"A teenage boy has died after his bicycle was involved in an accident with a
van on a village street.
The 15-year-old, who has not been named by police but is believed to come
from Tacolneston, was riding his bike along the B1113 Norwich Road at
Bunwell, when it was involved in a collision with a white Vauxhall Combo
van.
He suffered serious head injuries in this accident, which happened at about
5pm on Monday and was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge for
treatment. He died yesterday.
It is believed the van was passing the bike about 100 metres north of
Norwich Road's junction with Bunwell Street when the accident happened.
A woman from Bunwell, who did not wish to be identified, said: "He was
cycling to see a friend in Old Buckenham when it happened. We heard that the
van did not see him."
It is believed that the boy was a pupil at Old Buckenham High School.
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the accident, or the
cycle or the van on the road beforehand, to contact them.
Anyone with information should call PC Graeme Kynoch at Central Area Road
Policing on 0845 4564567."
From the above, it sounds like, perhaps, the van was overtaking the young
lad and pulled in before being clear of him :-(
