Yes, thank you!! I've been working on being weird for a long time and
I must have succeeded if you felt the need to comment.

Uh, I'm not the one using webtv. And no one can respond to your
question since you failed to quote just exactly what you're referring
    to.

Depends. Do you recall the name of the "dude"?

    ~you all are weirdos

    And you are...?

Well, Joan, ya might know that she's one of those webtv [censored]. They don't

Hi there -- I haven't seen you post to rec.food.cooking before (admittedly,
I don't read even close to every post, but that's a completely different
matter 🙂), but I notice you're posting from WebTV and have fallen into a
rather common trap of not knowing where you've actually ended up. .

In my ongoing attempts to help WebTVers make a smooth transition to
Usenet -- which is not part of WebTV or MSN -- I'd like to provide you with
a few links to articles which will provide you with the tools to survive in
this new-to-you arena called Usenet (also occasionally referred to as "the
shark tank"😉. In an ideal world, WebTV would do this for you, but
apparently they can't be bothered. Pity, that. Anyway:

    http://web.archive.org/web/20030802232222/watchingyou.com/webtv.html --
explaining the difference between Usenet and WebTV, and detailing how to
    quote using your WebTV interface.
    http://www.ibiblio.org/usenet-i/usenet-help.html -- Usenet
    Help --comprehensive
http://www.netmeister.org/news/learn2quote.html -- How to quote correctly on
Usenet (how and why) -- also comprehensive

And you should know that spelling and grammar (including punctuation) count
on Usenet. You don't have to be perfect, but the onus is on *you* to
    communicate clearly.
    Good luck.

    Avaunt! Der scheissfrau kerfloppen!

In a perfect world, the grobbles wouldn't be so, so, je ne sais quoi,
MORDANTACTICAL, or so says Simon. If only we had that thing, that
_guacamole_, as it were, then things violently wind-twisted (and shouted)
    could pepper mint.

    aight, dude?

Welllll, I did get to keep my webtv when I got my laptop. The service
for it is free and I don't have to worry about virus's and crashing,
etc. But I certainly like the features and speed of the notebook. I
suspect she came to Google through the webtv "Discuss" board and she
    thinks she still on webtv.

  15. Thanks jacqui! Incidents like this always remind me of the olden days
when AOL unleashed their masses into the Wide Wide World. I hope
you've archived that note to send to every webtv neophyte who ventures
    into usenet unprepared!

And thank you. Yes, it's my standard note to webtvers -- they're at such a
disadvantage here, thanks to webtv and MSN (two companies that should be
ashamed of themselves in this particular regard, imo). I don't usually get
any feedback from the original webtver in question, so I can only hope that
they take the advice in the spirit it's offered.
