stage by far for "value for money"

Rotherhithe YHA is within a few hundred yards of the route.
I don't know how long in advance the YHA will accept bookings.
There's also a whole parade of chain hotels (IBIS, Premier Lodge etc.)
in Southwark Street behind the Tate Modern. Just cross the bridge and
you are on the route.
Also a nice Premier Lodge on the riverside near Borough Market,
built onto the Anchor pub.

There will be plenty of things organised over the course of the two days.
Also, if you time it right, you can get a train to see the end of the
stage also.

If you want a 'reducto ad absurdum' it would not be a true tour of
Britain until they had visited every part of the Island. How one would
define part is another matter.
