  1. My g/f has joined me in the workout thing, and for simplicity I'm putting
together a workout we can both do (I'll be doing less reps more sets).
Goals are pretty simple, keep strong and keep moving the joints and the
like (I sit at a desk job, she's an artist).

My main concern is.. does this workout cover the bases.. I think it does,
most of this is off of Krista's site pretty much.

My g/f will be doing 2x12-15 of most exercises, I'm doing 3x8-10

Mon: Squat, SLDL, calf raise, good morning/back
    hyperextension, ab crunches

Wed: squat, lat pulldown, shoulder press, one-arm db
row, bench press, calf raise, crunch

Fri: lat pulldown, shoulder press, one-arm db row, bench press, crunch

Why is your gf doing fewer sets/higher reps?

She's just starting out (I've been lifting for over a year), when I
started I did a similar workout (more reps, fewer sets).

presumably you'll understand why a beginner might want a bit less loading
(%1rm wise).. in particular when that beginner is 5'9" and 110#..

  5. No deadlifts?

You must have missed the SLDL on monday

    perhaps another on wed?

This is a strange way to arrange things; it looks like you just tossed a
bunch of exercises around. I wouldn't suggest doing shoulder presses
before bench presses for example. And your wed workout is the same as
your fri workout, only w/o squats. What exactly are you trying to
    accomplish with this setup?

Funny, Krista disagrees, and I don't see why you wouldn't do shoulder
press before bench press. See the beginner full-body 1 workout at

w/o squats and w/o calf raise. upper body only...

No, I spotted that, but no "regular" deadlift was what I meant.

I am trying to keep quiet, though, because I'm no expert.

Well, even the 'expert' advice around here can be suspect. But you're
right only one, and now I'm wondering if I should include another DL....

And I noticed that perhaps I should knock crunches off one of those days.
    Well, we can always try.

The reason I'm trying to put together a new routine, is my gf is having
difficulty staying motivated (sometimes I do to) as our current routine
Friday's just seem to have too much workout in them. My goal was to lower
body monday, get a good full body wed, and then just upper body on friday.

Trying to make it a bit more varied....

You asked for advice. You really wanted validation. That happens often
    with clueless newbs.

I'm actually doing shoulder press (mil press) before bench right now. I just
swapped them cuz by the time I got to the MP I was fried and I wasn't doing
them justice. So I'm giving BP a break (by doing it later in the WO) and
    focusing on MP.

Gotta build up those delts for the ladies, doncha know.

Sure, if--like you and Krista, apparently--you want to
emphasize/prioritize overhead pressing, then of course you'd want to do
    it this way.
