  1. Ok, so I have a Canadisis problem. I've been suspecting it. Some of the
symptoms fit, and now I haven't lost a pound in a month. I'm very
frustrated. So I took this test this morning:
    http://www.stopyeast.com/saliva.html , and sure enough-I have yeast.

The question is, how to fight it. There's a product for sale on that
site, but I'm not spending $150 on yeast treatment-I don't have that
kind of money. Does anyone have any suggestions? Dr.Atkins mentions
Oregano Oil in his book, does that work? What about pro-biotics?

Any and all info is appreciated.

    -Michelle
    re-started Atkins 1/4/05
    quit due to pregnancy 3/01
    292/283/175
been fluxing between 280 and 285 for a month. 🙁

    You "have yeast"? Quack alert!

Listen, the site with that "test" is trying to sell you their products. The
saliva test is a sham. It doesn't tell the naked eye a damn thing about the
micro-organisms inside your body. Please don't fall for such nonsense!

Chances are about 99.9999% that you have no problem with yeast. If you
suspect you do, please see your trusted family physician. Please do not go
to a chiropractor or someone who claims to specialize in
candida/candidiasis. They only want your money. Greedy physicians and
chiropractors have had their licenses suspended and gone to jail for
    practicing such quackery.

I recommend that you go to www.quackwatch.org and do a search on yeast.

Are you suggesting that Dr.Atkins is a liar then?

  5. The body is an ecosystem fully of microorganisms. To say the a particular
fungus is a problem would require specialized lab tests.

Are you suggesting that Dr.Atkins is a liar then?

The Atkins article said nothing about a [censored] spit test, nor does
it attribute several dozen vague symptoms to fake systemic yeast like
    the quack site does.

The yeast relevance to Atkins is that diabetics are more prone
to oral, vaginal, skin-fold and intestinal yeast overgrowth than
    non-diabetics are.

*True* systemic candidiasis is almost never seen except in severely
immuno-compromised people, such as end stage AIDS patients.

Well, thats not what he says in his book. He says that 1 out of 3 of us
will have it, nowhere does it mention diabetics or AIDS patients.

I have many of the other symptoms including vaginal itching (but only
around AF), fatigue (despite sleeping 8+ hours), brain fog, gas &
bloating, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, and I do have a
disorder of the reproductive tract-namely polymenorrea *unless*
controlled w/ BC pills or Vitex. Not to mention, I haven't been losing
weight, and I'm doing everything right. I was able to find an
anti-yeast product on Netrition from NOW. $7.95/bottle, not a bad
option. I'm also looking into following Dr.Atkins suggestion of Oregano
    Oil.

I was really looking to hear from other people who have dealt with this,
or are dealing with it. Not to debate it's validity.

go see your doctor and quit looking for solutions on the internet.

jesus. what is wrong with you people?

Your Dr could do a test to see if you do have candidiasis. It might be a
good idea to talk to him/her about whats going on. :o)

    ====================
Please stay off commercial quack sites looking to sell you some fictitious
cure. See your regular Doctor. There's a product called Diflucan that's no
more than $5 a capsule that cures yeast infections - first have legitimate
tests to make sure that's what you have.

well cutting out all carbs is the one real thing to do so it the yeasts starve.
there are big debates on what will kill it. I used GSE (grapefruit seed extract)
and no carbs. getting good bacteria in you is very important too. just fine one
with no milk or sugar. http://www.scdworld.com/product.cfm?product_id=010106
this is the one that worked for me.
cut out all milk products and even those fake sugar alcohols.

I did my battle with candida and went on to leaky gut. it's getting better but I
still suffer with it. most doctors won't admit to it at all.

That's because "leaky gut" is another common quackery diagnosis with
long lists of vague symptoms that they suggest might maybe worsen
    over time.

True leaky gut is only seen in cases of substantial intestinal damage,
such as from severe colitis, and involves life-threatening risk
    of infection.

if you think doctors know all then your in for a rude surprise. yes there are
things that are over classified but that's only because no one really knows what
it is. a lot of times doctors are clueless what is wrong with a person and just
use hit and miss methods to find it.

If you think quacks don't make up fake diseases and syndroms to sell
you supplements, "cleanses", "detoxes" and other useless items,
then you need to look further than [censored] sites like curezone and other
    faux-disease-of-the-month sites for your info.

of course they do. but you can't lump everyone together.
but if you don't think drug companies don't make up [censored] and sell [censored] your
fooling yourself too. I bet there is a lot that was never marketed because of
profit loss or it would not make a profit but would help out.
like everything you need to find what works and what does not in all medicine.
