Ouch. You didnt specify what part of your body is affected, but most
common are vaginal and intestinal yeast infections. Taking penicillin
and various other antibiotics will sometimes sterilize the gut--killing
not only the "bad" bacteria, but also the 'good" bacteria normally found
in the gut. It's a good idea to drink buttermilk or eat yogurt every day
while taking antibiotics, which will prevent the yeast infection.
The sad truth about vaginal yeast is this:
It's generally caused by having sex with a man who didnt wash his
equipment before having sex. This is an almost uniquely American
phenomenon. In most other countries, men are taught to wash up before
having sex. Perhaps due to American sexual prudery, moms dont tell their
sons to give their Jhonson a wash before sexual contact. Dad doesnt tell
him either, because, hey, nobody ever told him. It simply doesnt even
cross their minds.
It's rather appalling, actually. American men think nothing of showering
in the morning, working all day, coming home and boinking their wife or
girlfriend.
Yeast spores are everywhere--invisible, but plentiful. Yeast lives
quite comfortably and safely on the penis, inside the warm and humid
Fruit o' the Looms, multiplying like crazy every minute since that early
morning shower.
Because the penis is NOT a mucous membrane, the male is not affected by
this abundance of invisible yeast growing like Kudzu inside his
skivvies.
The vaginal mucosa, on the other hand, IS very susceptible---and
American women
spend half their lives running to the drugstore for Monistat, convinced
their tight pantyhose are the culprit.
Wrong-o. Have your guy wash his Johnson immediately before having sex
and you will never have a yeast infection again.--A "shower three hours
ago" isnt good enough--that's plenty of time to raise a good crop of
yeast. Yeast thrives in a dark, warm, humid place....and there's enough
on a penis to bake bread with.
A man can get a yeast infection inside the urethra (mucous membrane
lining) from having sex with a female who is already infected (probably
by him). But, without sex, the "normal" yeast that grows on skin,
whether inside the Fruit O' the Looms or the pantyhose, doesnt cause
infections. The introduction of the yeast spores INTO the mucosa of the
vagina or the urethral mucosa does cause the infection. Yeast doesnt
'travel" into the vagina on it's own--
