  1. Looking on ebay for some XT V brakes, some sellers specify the item
they are selling as specificaly for front or rear, other sellers
state the item they are selling is for either.

Are they specific or will they fit front or rear

Hope I've worded my query so all can understand

    many Thanks

    Steve

Isn't it something really silly, like the way the pads are mounted?

The thieves who steal the bikes and strip them to sell the parts on eBay
probably don't know that you can reconfigure them to fit front or back.

What's got to be altered to make rear's work as fronts? Just fit a set of
pads the right as opposed to wrong way round? I've got a back LX V-brake I
bought for 2/10ths of bugger all....

Is it related to the brake lever by any chance - the levers are side of the
    handlebar specific

The front ones (as sold for the UK) have a noodle that is bent back on
    itself.

  7. Thanks for the info,

Most of the shops have them listed as front or rear specific and list
    them with seperate part numbers

Am I being naive or do other readers of the group have the general
concensus that a lot of the cycling gear on ebay is stolen?

I've got to be truthfull it's something I never gave much thought toOn

No consensus, I suspect, but the stolen parts go somewhere, and eBay is now the
easiest place to sell the stuff to someone far away, no questions asked.

Well, the profit margin goes up as the cost of stock goes down, so if the latter
    is zero, then....
