For a micro brewery I was going to mention the Freeminer
Brewery at the Miners Arms in Sling, Forest of Dean just up
the hill but Google tells me they've shifted production to
Cinderford trading estate and you wouldn't want to stay
there. Not that Sling was much better.

Not sure about the beer, but for accommodation between Chepstow and
Monmouth try

Brewery, but plenty of pubs in The Forest who sell their

Such as 'The Fountain' in Parkend, Centre of the Universe.
Just don't ask any locals "Who killed the bear then?" Not
because of the popular myth that it is deeply offensive and
will enrage any Forester worthy of the name but because not
one of them will have a clue what you're on about. Avoiding
phrases like "Aren't the sheep cute" or "When do the trains
come up this far?" might also be a good idea.

From a long time ago I remember the New Inn at St Owen's
Cross, just off the A49 north of Ross on Wye, it was in the
Good Beer Guide (and may still be for all I know) and did
accommodation.

Or the Riverside at Aymestrey.

Or the Pilgrim Hotel at Much Birch.

Not inexpensive, though. Slightly more budget, good
grub, beer, and cider as well, to be had in the Cherry
Tree, Tintern.

Usual disclaimers, just drank there happily for over 20
years.
