This in one of those questions that you will get many
varying answers to ... unfortunately, YOU are the only one
who is going to be able to answer it. It is a personal
decision, based on what you as an individual need to
succeed. If you need accountability to someone other than
yourself, if you need the cheers and jeers, then a
storefront will more than likely be in your best interest.
If you are highly motivated, are willing and able to be
accountable only to yourself, as well as being 100% honest
with yourself, then online will more than likely work.
Be aware though, as many have been surprised, that the only
thing you will get with the online program is ... the online
program. Capability of journaling, accessability to their
large database of food points, recipe builder for figuring
points (which I found to be rather lacking), access to
community boards. I found their customer service area was
not great. You do not get the incentives such as stickers,
keychains, certificates, etc. You get no printed materials
at all. Most information can be found on their website, but
sometimes is buried pretty deep and hard to find.
That said, I am a product of ww online, have not set one
foot in a ww storefront. I have been successful in reaching
my goal and in maintaining my ww goal for over a year now,
and personal goal for about 9 months. I was highly motivated
to lose the weight. I accounted for everything that I ate, I
journaled every day, I visited this newsgroup and
participated daily. I do feel this newsgroup was one of the
greatest factors in my success. The hints, tips and support
were/are outstanding.
Whichever venue you decide, I wish you lots of success
throughout your journey, and hope to see you posting
here often.

Quoted message said:Hello,
I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks, and doing
some research. I believe WW is the the most sensible way to
lose weight and get fit.
Do you feel that it is just as advantageous to join WW
online, as go to the meetings? I'm not much of a meetings
person, but wonder if I'd be missing out if I don't go.
What do you think?
Thank you in advance for your advice, Maggie
