Dutchy!! Once again you show you are a man of cultural class 😄 TV hasnt been the same since Twin Peaks - no other show has risen to its standard. Carnivale came close, as did that Angels program (cant remember the name!! and I have it on video ha!) on ABC.

As for the plastic - how come its sooooooooo cheap????? Am I missing something ?? Or is the bike missing something???

I'm holding out for next Friday night - Battlestar Galactica returns to our screens...

(if only they would redo Space 1999.)

I'm too scared to watch the new Battlestar Galactica, it can only be a
disappointment. Memories of how good a TV show improve with years, same
would apply for Space 1999, I loved it.

Im damn picky and its rare a tv show holds my interest for 5 mins but i found myself right into the new Battlestar series till the end. Not just the typical sci fi show. It´s great if you ask me. The whole season, all the way through. Definately worth a look at the very least.

On the original topic, I'm glad that plastic bikes have dropped to a price which reflects the fact that, well, they're made from plastic... Will the high-end manufacturers return to steel now to differentiate themselves from the me-too bikes? I mean, Who'd blow $10K on a C50 when you can get one of these, just the same, but half the price?

When I first saw one on the LBS floor, I did a double-take on the price tag,
and then asked the proprietor if that was really the price.

Mmmm, very interesting! I've just spent my designated wad of cash
(courtesy of 40th birthday excuse) on a Learsport 8500 (with 10-speed
Ultegra) and I'm very happy with it. Looks like Learsport are launching
a new brand for the more upmarket range (a la Toyota / Lexus), but the
website isn't there yet. (www.azzurri.com.au)

Not sure which factory it is. But, I have gotten two friends, new to cycling sersiously, looking for good bang for the buck, to buy learsports. One 8000 and one 8500. Good bikes for sure, for the money it is very good.

I must say that carbon bike looks tasty as hell. If I had not gotten my cervelo, that would have been high on my list, if they could have been had
with the real deal, campa instead of [censored]. I just hate how the gear levers
work and how those wires stick out like antennas on an insect, and more importantly, the restrict what grip I can hold on the levers.

No, they are just big, I wrap them around the hoods in many different ways🙂
Also, not too important, just look at how a bike looks with shim levers. It looks like a mountain goat. Certainly a well sorted thing, but uggeeeeerrrlyyy🙂
I have ridden shim gear a little bit, and that vague action you get from levers when changing, I do not like, I do not like that the levers feel flimsy when on the brakes from the hoods. But again, I think most these things you get used to, but campy feels more "right" for me.

Some (one?) of them never stopped making steel. I know of a young
racing-type guy who chucked in his C40 a couple of years ago for a
Scapin and hasn't looked back. Since all his sisters and his cousins
and his aunts (I don't know if he reckons them by dozens but there
seem to be a lot of them) still seem to have C40s or C50s, he must be
the bright one :-)
