Work report.
Yesterday CAMBA (www.camba.info) had a cleanup day at Post Canyon, one of
the local in-town trails. There was a pretty good turnout, I would guess
about 20 or more people.
I am not sure yet exactly how much trash was hauled away...at least 3
pickup truckloads + a trailer. We only did about 2 miles of road + trail,
and we barely made a dent.
We pulled out enough tires to open our own Les Schwab. The front end of a
Jeep. The entire interior (upholstery, seats, glove box, window visors)
from what was probably once a very nice Mustang. Ceramic roof tiles.
Screen doors. Carpet. The usual assortment of beer bottles, cigarette
butts, condoms + wrappers + boxer shorts. A pair of sunglasses 100 ft
from any trail. (That must have been some wipeout.) A 20 lb bag of [censored].
(I know it was [censored] because the bag split open when I was picking it up.
My XX chromosome setup reared its ugly head and I did the "Ewww!! Gross!"
dance & had to be helped.) A Doberman puppy. (What kind of [censored]
throws away a *puppy*?! I waited until I got home to cry about that one.)
Apparently there is a huge stash of (used) cloth diapers up the hill a
ways. Like, too big to be pulled out with a pickup. Don't people do
laundry any more?
One girl and I discovered what must have been the town dump. Old coffee
cans, a wheelbarrow, some very nice ceramic planters (in pieces of
course). We had to give up digging the stuff out because the larger items
had become part of the hillside. That's a job for professionals with
heavy equipment.
There are at least two places in town that take old appliances for *no
charge*. They resell them for scrap metal. What kind of numbskull risks
a huge fine by dumping something down a ravine, if they could dump it for
free legally? WTF is the matter with these idiots?
The worst part: even after all we did, I was back out there today, and
there's still MORE!!!
I hate my fellow man.
