  1. Cyclocross world cup #4 in the sand dunes of Koksijde, Belgium.

    http://www.phys.uu.nl/~dronkert/tmp/20041127_koksijde_pre.avi
    Junior/U23 summary, pro preview - 75 MB 0:13:30

    http://www.phys.uu.nl/~dronkert/tmp/20041127_koksijde_pro.avi
Intro, world cup race - 345 MB 1:02:29

    http://www.phys.uu.nl/~dronkert/tmp/20041127_koksijde_post.avi
Post race, interviews, summary - 96 MB 0:17:25

Recorded in DivX format (352x288, poor sound) from Belgian Sporza TV.
Commentary in Dutch by Michel Wuyts, Paul Herijgers and Renaat Schotte.

(so apparently there's world cup cyclocross on this channel after all).

  2. Why did you choose DivX format instead of standard MPEG-1 this time around?

To try it out. It's 40% less data, for comparable video quality.

I think you used a Windows-only DivX codec, for which there is no Mac
    translator.

Please please please, for maximum compatability, please post items in MPEG-1
    format ...

Actually, it plays fine on my Mac with the free (and quite good) VLC
Media Player. You can get it here:

If Ewoud can save a lot of server space by using a format other than
MPEG-1, perhaps that'll help keep the traffice from his site under a
level that makes him stop doing this.

Anyway, the VLC player is a good choice for file playback on many
    platforms.

Great. I did use the latest encoder, v5.2.1. Don't know if the (more
    common?) 5.11 decoder understands that.

Good for file playback, but not good for burning to VCD. Toast thinks the
file is an audio file ... And DivX Doctor doesn't seem to want to convert
    it.

Ewoud ... For maximum compatibility, please stick with MPEG-1 format, even
if it is a bit larger.

If necessary, I'll see if I can put together a mirror site to relieve some
of the pressure on the university servers.

All I get is audio as well. says error with codec IIRC. all my other
apps (other then win media player) try to start a download
    (realplayer, etc.)

all i want is to see Jonathan STACK IT in the beginning too.

Post if anyone figures out what we need to do to get it to play.

Thanks again for posting it though!

Worked for me with XP SP1, bsplayer (free version) and divx 5.2.1

RealPlayer did that for me also. I let it do the download (the
current version of RealPlayer), and then it worked.

Or you could have installed the latest DivX codec from
http://www.divx.com/divx/download/ then it would have (probably) worked
    with the older players too.

    MR Ewoud,
Thank you so much. That brightened up my windtrainer session no end.

Hey it's supposed to be summer in the southern hemisphere.

Well, last week we had snow down to the level of the house.
A week ago it was 28C.
This week we had one day where it was 4C and 28C.
The windtrainer session was going to be a road ride but just as I was
going to get changed, the missus came home unexpectedly (she's trying to
catch me with another woman I reckon) and demanded that we go shopping.
So the WT session was 9-10pm instead.
Yesterday was nice enough so we all trotted out to get hammered by local
    World Champ Mr Henderson.

Sounds like you hang out on Steward Island.
