For general information, we're organising a maintenance class on
the Wednesday prior to Bike Week, plus a Dr Bike on the first Saturday
at Cutty Sark Gardens.

pps. I called into AN Wilson in Peckham a week or so ago.
Proper local bike shop. They quoted £30 plus parts for a service,
which seems reasonable to me. Thought it worth giving them a plug.
Traditional looking shop just across the road from the Peckham Pulse.

drivetrain & rapid fire shifters. Any tips on how to solve this
problem?

Having moved house and now having more space I decided to treat myself to my first 'proper' workstand, a Tacx Spider Pro. My only commetn after stripping down one of teh bike on it was 'why didn't I get one earlier?!'. i got mine from Probikekit. Keep your eyes on the site as the price tends to fluctuate, I got mine inc vat and delivery for £80, and well worth it.

I've seen it, I haven't used it. It looks good. I would have bought one
if I didn't already have a workstand.

The barrel adjuster where the cable goes into the rear deraileur. shift
into a middle gear and then adjust so that the chain is coming off the
deraileur cage perfectly centrally onto the cog. Then shift through the
range and ensure that it all shifts cleanly, but it it's right in the
middle it should.

Workstands are one of those "how did I live without it things", like track
pumps. Once you have one, you realise how useful they are.

Mine is most frequently used for washing the bike, and it would be worth
it just for that.

That EBC stand looks fine. Mine is a Park one which was a little more
(£99) and folds nice and flat.

tend to leave work until about 8 :-P

Any chance of a weekend course at some point?

I have one that is a short metal post, with two hooks.
Is this similar?
