lol....no doubt they will discover all of that as their
journey continues. As you did, I presume. For now, I doubt
that top on their list is answering an anatomy question of
another poster. I believe they would like to celebrate this
portion of their journey and their sense of completion thus
far. But you are a good one to keep bliss in check. We all

Congrats to YOU Douglas on your accomplishments. The hours,
the years, the boards. We're all learning. All from
different States and "states" . All with different
requirements at the moment. All with varying saturations in
the market and different fee schedules. Knowledge of that
diversity in the field of massage therapy, keeps me from
making sweeping generalizations about any new students
and/or practitioners..

Yet.. understanding on a very human level the great sense of
accompishment and pride that comes with giving ANY program

I always liked when others questioned me on those things and
still do. Makes you keep thinking. When I was preparing for
final and national exams in Asian Bodytherapy, we emailed
questions back and forth daily to keep on our toes.

I think he was trying to "rain on their parade". Nothing
wrong with celebrating personal achievements no matter how
big or small. Setting up any small business is no mean feat
but that is another hurdle so no need to let it spoil the
joy of this achievement. Standards of education differ from
region to region, 2200 hours here in Ontario, 3000 in B.C. I
find it rather pointless to get into who's is bigger or
better than who else's. I've met good and bad therapists
from many diverse regions.

I'll ask her when she gets home.

I'm more into the road to riches than her, she's just taking
a new direction in life. When I met her she told me when she
turns X she wants a new career, to get out of the production
artist life and do something totally new. She did exactly
that and I'm the proudest husband in the world right now.

I feel like we just crested a mountain and are looking down
into a beautiful valley and there's many paths to go. We
both know it takes time to establish a following but we're
just happy to be here.

On a side note, all of her clients from the clinic are
repeat customers, some are her own classmates, she gets rave
reviews from everyone and the owner of the school told her
to come see her after she graduates. I know she made the
right choice.

ok, gotta run. I have to go buy some flowers for her, I
think three vases conveniantly placed around the house will
make her happy.

some time to come up with that answer. Anatomy really sank
in for me the second time around, when I took a functional
anatomy class for my Shiatsu training. I was upset about
having to re-take so much anatomy, thinking I knew it all
already. The second teacher was awesome and I learned a ton.
I have since thought of taking college level classes.
Haven't really looked into it yet though. Don't really know
where to start with that.

Don't bother with the college-level stuff. Far better to
catch alternate sources, such as the Shiatsu one you
mentioned, or the chiropractic one noted in the other post.
Or even a functional anatomy class offered within an
osteopathic school. My nursing school anatomy class tended
to accentuate neuroanatomy, and at that time I was working
in the Physiology and Biophysics Dept of the medical school,
so I didn't really get what I considered a really solid
anatomy training till I got it within Physical Therapy
classes, plus they tended to be more integrated and
functionally oriented.

Congrats to both of you! I'm 3 months into a 2-year program,
and haven't even begun to see the light at the end. I'm
having so much fun with it that that part almost doesn't
even matter right now. Just wondering which school in
Cambridge you are referring to. I'm at the one on Rindge Ave
that is anything but going under. I know there are at least
two others in the area, and would be most interested to know

14 months of 2 nights a week school plus Saturdays doing 4
massages and Thursday nights doing 1 massage for the
school and licensing requirements.

Only 43 more massages and she's done. Good thing too
the school she's going to in Cambridge is going down
hill fast.

We're very close to closing one chapter and starting a new
one, life is beautiful!!
