Hi I have just recently started using a compu-trainner. I am curious how my power output rates with other girls.
My functional threshold is around 270 watts and my weight is 52kg. I am a pretty good elite level MTB racer but am curious as to what other girls power outputs are.

If your FT number is accurate, that would blow my mind. That's 5.2w/kg in an hour.

Somebody else already linked to the power profiling tables I've put together. So, I'll simply add that a recent study found that most of the top female road racers in the US had critical powers of between 4.2 and 4.8 W/kg. (Critical power is essentially equal to functional threshold power.)
I asked the person I recieved the trainner from about accuracy. The said they had compared it to several power taps apparently there was similar reading on each device.
I have done some reading on this page and I think I overstated my FT. Currently I can hold 270 watts for 20 minutes. I guess I would have to do a 1hr TT to find my FT. Even then from the information acoggan has given I am very pleased with my numbers.
I will have to see how things go at Sea Otter. I only did one Norba last year, I had climbed my way into the top 8 before a mechanical took me out. Hopefully I can be mechanical free this year.

That's awesome. Good luck this year - if not, you can always get some support if you happen to be close to the neutral pits or your team pit or team mates.
You can use the guestimate of 95% of the 20 minute power for now as described in the Training and Racing with a Powermeter book for FTP. Then adjust this as your training/data collection progresses.
One thing about the CT is that one has to be careful to follow the correct protocol in warming the device up and calibrating it with each use as described or linked in that thread.
If I wasn't clear, you may not have to quit if you have a mechanical with the change in the rules for pros. There will be neutral support and team pits so it would behoove participants to learn where these are on the course and if you are supported to have your mechanics ready at different locations for maximum coverage.
Congratulations on getting the Computrainer. I just got one this year too and all of the advice on calibrating is correct (warm-up for at least 10 minutes then calibrate it). Now, I'm convinced power is good tool and on my way to a Powertap.
I'm curious what the n-values are for the power profiles. I have no doubt there are quite a few for men, but I wonder how many women were used to create the profiles. Does anyone know? This would greatly affect the mean used to generate the profiles.
Anyway, good luck with racing this year and remember the only thing that matters at the end of the day is how you place, not what you power output is...🙂
